According to my hair stylist, everyone's hair grows between 1/8" to 1/4" every four to five weeks. Products such as Mane and Tail do not make one's hair grow faster because it is an external product and hair production begins internally, though for some individuals these types of products can strengthen hair strands. My midwife told me that taking prenatal vitamins may possibly contribute to hair growth because they contain higher doses of vitamins and minerals than are found in average diets/vitamin pills, but that the main benefactor in hair growth during pregnancy is the increased hormonal levels which support the developing fetus. There is also some debate about whether or not warm weather aids in hair growth, though it is my personal opinion that most people just feel better, prettier, more optomistic once spring and summer roll around, so they are more likely to have positive attitudes about their general appearances.

In other words, there is no scientific data that any product will aid hair growth. However, eating a healthy diet and taking vitamin supplements will eliminate most deficiencies that prohibit hair growth. The one sure-fire method to hair growth is simply time. Also, get routine trims of no more than 1/8" (1/4" for chlorine damage, etc.). Unfortunately, cutting off the hair that has grown in seems contradictory and may, in fact, be so if you are removing only the length of new growth, but removing split ends and keeping one's hair in shape will enhance your hair's appearance and strength.

Be sure to use a good conditioner as your hair grows, and never take a brush through wet hair! It is best to use a wide-tooth comb or hair pick to eliminate tangles and snarls because brushes can pull out and/or rip fragile wet hair. Once your hair begins to grow, wash and rinse it by moving the shampoo and conditioner down the hair shaft, not be bunching hair up on your head, to prevent tangles.

My two daughters (16 and 10) and I all have hair that falls below the middle of our backs -- my younger daughter's is at her waist line -- so long hair care is important in our house. Also, once your hair has reached the length of 16" when it is tied back in a ponytail, if you decide to cut it, please consider donating your hair to Locks for Love. This is a great organization that manufactures hair pieces for children that have lost their hair due to disease and medical treatments such as chemotherapy. My daughters have both done so in the past and the realization that you are helping someone feel better about her appearance is very rewarding. Your stylist should be able to help you with this if you only ask.

Good luck!

well, i have been putting hand lotion on my hair for years. I know it sounds weird, but hair and nails have some of the same basic makeup. My hair grows approximately an inch a month, I cut off about 20 inches 3 years ago to donate, and it is just a few inches, maybe 6 from being as long as it was before, and i get it cut every 3 months. I get rave reviews on my hair all the time so it must work. It leaves it feeling very soft and less frizzy, and there is a lot less breakage, which is what you want if you want it to grow.

Hair loss or baldness is caused mainly due to the lack of Vitamin B supplements. Vitamin B5 contains pantothenic acid and B3 (niacin that is vital for hair growth). B6 is equally important to the body, as it contains the nutrients of zinc, sulfur, magnesium and biotin.

An interesting fact about Vitamin B: Certain experiments were conducted with rats and they were fed with food that lacked magnesium supplements. It was found that they lost their hair in bunches and when they were provided with a low biotin diet they turned hairless. But to the surprise of all, their hair returned when they were fed with food rich in Vitamin B. Similar studies were conducted on men and it was found that Vitamin B enriches the quality of hair.

The body also requires Vitamin A. Fatty acids such as primrose

oil, flaxseed oil or salmon oil need to be consumed for enhancing hair growth.

Vitamin E is meant for stimulating the oxygen intake in the body and improves the blood circulation. If there is proper blood circulation, hair growth is enhanced.
Vitamin C assists the normal functioning of capillaries that carries the blood to the scalp. Even zinc is an important supplement, which should be consumed as it assists hair growth.

Biotin is necessary for hair growth. There are many sources of biotin such as brewer's yeast, brown rice, bulgur, green peas, lentils, oats, soybeans, sunflower seeds, and walnuts. It is present in some shampoos, so you can use shampoos, which contain biotin. It is advised to consult a physician before taking any vitamins or medications for hair growth.

Minoxidil (a.k.a. Rogaine) is scientifically proven to stimulate growth in certain types of baldness. My personal theory is that it works by stimulating blood flow around the hair follicles in the scalp because it is a vasodilator.

Anyhow, it might stimulate hair to grow faster ... or maybe wake up hair follicles that have stopped production (which is why some bald folks use it).

It was a heart medicine component years ago so make sure your doctor is cool with you using it.

I have two suggestions. First, I heard that if you trim your hair once a month (to get rid of split ends) your hair will grow faster because it is no longer splitting/damaged. Secondly, I have read that you should massage your head with your fingertips in circular motions for three minutes daily to stimulate your roots to grow faster. Hope I helped! ;)

You need to eat lots of protein. Your hair IS protein, so by eating a balanced diet your hair can grow longer. If you are a vegetarian then your hair might be shorter and you might wonder why? It is because meat is protein and vegetarians don't eat that.

eating right and taking vitamins is a good way to incrase hair growth. Vitamins like biotin and msm are good. Veggies and foods high in protein are also good.
