Tell your teacher you want to be a neurotheologist when you grow up :-)

Sure our earthly body has bones which we need to walk and move and internal organs for other functions, but we also are spiritual and will some day have eternal bodies fit for the place we will be after death.

The teacher may not be a spiritual person and just knows what he thinks from textbooks written by another empty , unspiritual person. Yes............there is something more! Thank God. Don't let this 'teacher' mess up your thinking.

From a scientific perspective you teacher is correct as far as the present sight of science is concerned. However, human beings do not yet have all the science, there are many things of science within the universe that are not understood. Humans have only seen a insignificant fraction of all there is to know in the universe, and we may well never see or understand it all. So just because science tells us that we are but flesh and bone, neurotransmitters and hormones does not mean, that is all there is.

There is more to this life..... To quote Stephen Curtis Chapman,
"There is more to this life, than living and dying, more than just trying to make it throug the day."
There is a reason you feel this way, and that is because in the hearts of all humans, we have some distant view or idea of a god, etc. Some seriously repress it, and let it make them angry that others don't, etc. Instead of just letting people do what they want, they really like to debate and get crazy about it,and put others down. Interesting, if there is no God anyway, right? No, you are on to something, and your teacher only believes in what he can see with his eyes, but he is obviously choosy in that, as he does it in many other facets of his life. I mean, he has faith in many things he cannot see, but he really doesn't want to have to answer to a god that he thinks is out to hurt him for some reason, or take away his fun. Keep seeking truth always!

ACTUALLY FROM A SUBATOMIC POINT OF VIEW YOU ARE COMPOSED MOSTLY OF EMPTY SPACE, THAT IS, THERE IS LOTS OF EMPTY SPACE BETWEEN THE ATOMS WHICH MAKE UP YOUR ORGANS, BONES, ETC.
TELL YOUR SCIENCE TEACHER THAT FACT.
ps.has any teacher ever told you that you have a human spirit that makes you unique.

Your science teacher is wrong, and is also evil. The time he is spending trying to make you not believe in God is taking away from the time he is supposed to be doing his job, which is teaching you science, not personal philosophy, and he should be fired for not doing the job the tax payers are paying him to do. Please tell him I said so...

We're just a set of chemical reactions with the most evolved brain as of yet. We ARE special, but we aren't any more than what science has shown us to be. Your teacher has crudely put down exactly what we are.

What you're feeling is something a lot of humans have felt - a need to be something more. We're a selfish species really. Just accept what and who you are. Don't make up things like that we have "immortal souls" etc. Just live life to the fullest.

I highly suggest reading Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The Romantics had a lot of ideas on his subject, and Frankenstein (the novel is very, very different from popular renditions) is a good place to start. The Promethean spark...that's the concept I love.

God did give us a body. But He also gave us a spirit and soul. When our body dies, we will stand before God on Judgement Day. If we have chosen His Way, we will spend eternity with Him. If we don't choose His Way we will be burned in hell. Our choice.

Your science teacher has an immortal soul, and will stand before his Creator some day.
