I keep a large white Goddess candle and an assortment of small colored ones for specific spells. I have about 500 incense sticks of assorted flavors that I keep on hand to burn, but not ON the altar, rather in a drawer nearby. Usually, one keeps a wand and an athame there, but I'm still shopping for mine. I keep a bowl of coarse sea salt for purification and another bowl of clean water for cleansing. I prefer the bowls to chalices, as the cats can't knock them over as easily.

It is not unusual to keep statues on the altar as well. I'm looking for a nice Freya statue and I'd love a flying spaghetti monster one, but no luck just yet.

P.S. I love your screen name. :D

Whatever you want, really.

I have two incense burners, a number of candles that change from time to time, a few oils, a pot of flowers, a gargoyle (yes he represents something), a small statue of the Buddha, and a black goblet someone made for me with a chaos star etched in. That's what's on there at the moment, and those are pretty constant. Other things end up there from time to time (specific runestones or tarot cards, malas, etc).

I have a 1787 Druid Penny, a Boker Dagger, and an Artillery fragment that missed me by inches a few years ago.

They used to rest on a marble slab I had for an altar but I obviously could not bring that over here. Each of these are reminders of my three 'pillars'..... Knowledge-Justice-Truth...

The coin is for the pursuit of Knowledge.
The dagger is for the pursuit of Justice.
The fragment is for the pursuit of Truth.

I don't have a home altar, and had no idea that maybe many do? I am curious to see other's answers. IF I did have an altar, I would have a family bible, and some beautiful candles there. Sounds more like a catholic thing, or other religions, other than christians. I tend to pray and worship wherever I am.

Candles, and whatever holders you like. I burn incense sometimes.

Nothing...we don't believe in any of those things. We believe in having a prayer closet where you can be alone with God without any distractions. We don't worship statues.
