I've long suspected (I'm 16), that I have some form of Asperger's or HFA. All I can tell you is that you can't get angry with him. If you don't force anything on him, and let him get rid of the fear of dogs at his own pace, it will come. As soon as you start forcing things onto him, he gets anxious, and then he'll run away from the situation.

tell him all you go through with his mom and he will more then likely want to have a dog over a woman .lol joke seriously now. you might want to bring him to the animal shelter just for a visit and make sure to tell the workers there . since they will all be in cages and they will take one out a a time and will only show him the calm cute ones. knowing he is scared. pet shop has babys wich are also more affectionate if he would hold one and feel the baby dog trying to be closer to him and feel the heat. and a must is watch the movie lassie with him GOD why arent parents doing that anymore i fell in love with lassie when i was 5 yrs old now im 32 and always had a dog forever after. hope your get it . animal love is a good thing for kids . they can tell their pets things they cant always tell their parents and comforts them. watching dog movies with him as a familly viewing might make him want to get closer to one.but please no CUJO! that hings scary man!try lassie/and those saint benards movies, good luck and happy new years!

Everything has to be very structured for these kids. Explain everything step by step. First we are going to bring a small dog into the room. Next we will get the dog to sit down. Then you may pet the dog. These kids really need everything explained to them first.

not a parent of an aspie, but other dx, yes
I would contact a pet therapy organization and have your child meet 'bomb proof' pets
