I don't know what "cavilian", "cheeper", or "lagistical" are, but Federal Express and UPS are civilian agencies transporting parcels for fee.

The USPS is probably the most economical method there is for sending letters and parcels. If it wasn't. businesses sending solicitations would already be doing so via other means. 40 cents to send a letter perhaps 4000 miles is a real bargain. Try to send anything anywhere for .01 cents per mile any other way.

For your information the Post Office is not run by the govt. any more. It has been since 1999. The only way we get paid is selling stamps, and anything else the Post Office sells. That is the reason they keep upping the prices. I used to work for the Post Office, and I hurt my back. Check out your facts.

I would trust the U.S. postal service first because it has rules such as the "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds. " motto. I doubt that civilians would stick to something like that
