What is a good diet for a 19 yr. old male who weighs about 235 lb.? I have gained a lot of weight over the past 2 or 3 weeks due to stress and a few other factors. How canI loose it in a short but safe amount of time?

It's very good to take care of yourself like you want to. And its good that you aren't in a hurry because you said "in a safe amount of time". Most people are in a hurry to loose weight. I'm am in fact on a diet right now. My older brother when on a less carb diet. He also cut everything in half. He lost 40 pounds in 5 months! That's very good and its also healthy. Just cut everything you eat in half for the first 2 weeks. Such as a sandwich. If you eat a ham sandwich for lunch.....cut it in half. Eat one piece of bread and less ham then you usually do. Although ham isn't fattening. The point of this is to boost your metabalism. If you eat less for the first 2 weeks your stomach will shrink and you wont want to eat much. That's what has happen to me! I started my diet on December 28 and now its January 6 and I dont want to eat as much as I used to! Its going to be hard so just be prepared but if you have the will power and are dedicated to losing this weight...it will happen! Also carbs are in just about everything....so less carbs will be hard...but when you go grocery shopping...take more time out to look at the nutrition facts to see how many carbs. Bread has lots of carbs to becareful. Try to stay away from bread and pasta. Every once in a while you can cheat like me...haha....Also drink lots of water. Did you know that sometimes your thirst senses get in the way of your hunger senses? Meaning sometimes when you feel hungry its means you're actually thirsty! So try drinking a little before you grab something to eat. If that doesn't satisfy you then you are probably ready for something to eat. I drink Aquafina Sparking Berry Burst or Tropical Twist carbonated water. Its like 3 dollars at Walmart for a 6 pack. It's worth the money because its very good. Also make sure you add plenty of excercise to this diet. Crunches, push ups, stretches, jumping jacks, jump rope, I'm sure you know the excercises you need. Good Luck!

Hope I Helped!

Oh dear.... first, close your eyes and think of your body accepting force-feeding after force-feeding-- is that what you did during your time of stress? You may find this to be a hard to accept proposal, but I suggest that you might want to do a cleanse, or a supervised fast. When I was 19 I couldn't have envisioned going without food, but the fact is that you have been badly abusing your body with overfeeding and your body needs a vacation.... the best internet source of information that I can think of is Dr. Joel Fuhrman who is both an MD and a naturopath who is an expert in the whole area of fasting for healing and weight loss. Jog, swim or bike at least 40 minutes a day. Consume less fat. Eat healthy- fibers- wheat bread. I guarantee you will be 180 pounds after 2-3 weeks.
