recently, by an odd turn of events i swallowed a mouthful of straight vinegar and it sent me into schock, i couldn't breath and began coughing uncontrollably. I felt severe chest and head pain. now, a couple days later, i still cannot speak properly, my throat is completely hoarse, and my nose won't stop running. so now i'm wondering what exactly the stuff did to my body.

Vinegar is highly acidic and can cause caustic burns so that's probably why your throat is still a bit messed up. Probably made it raw and it's producing more mucus down in there. It'll take more than a mouthful to do permanent damage. It may irritate your stomach and esophagus, but that's about it for that amouunt.

See the link I added. It has a short story about a woman who tried to commit suicide by drinking vinegar...pretty bad. Some other interesting information about the harms of consuming too much vinegar.

I have really never heard of someone overdosing on vinegar. My brother drank an entire jar of pickle juice, and all he suffered was a very upset stomach. Your reaction depends on what kind of vinegar you ingested. Apple Cider Vinegar has a lot of potassium, which can disrupt the salinity of your cells. This is the only thing I can think of. Perhaps what you experienced was similar to dehydration. It does take quite a while to get back to normal.
