Read that Q. Almost every answer has something like "because the bible says so, it must be true". Have Chirstians actually thought that just maybe it isn't the word of god and somebody's words who has realised that people are quite easily lead by words if it is in the bible?

That picture that you have on your profile is repulsive. Sorry, I just couldn't let that go. Why did you select that picture? It seems a little nuts to blindly follow the most common way to get attention from trying to display a sexual type picture commonly known to draw attention in a cheap, desperate way that you can? I can not even take you seriously to answer the question until you find another picture. To ask a serious question like the one that you have asked here in the religion catagory, you can't accuse anyone to blindly follow anything. It's nuts when you are blindly following the lowest form people use to get attention: sluttiness.
Stop degrading yourself in the way that people blindly follow those who try to use sex to get noticed just to get attention to have people read your question. Sex sells, right?? So, people look at that nasty picture. Who ever that girl is, she should put on a different outfit. If you are an intelligent person, you will not need to stoop to that level to get people to read your questions. I hope you understand how you are coming across. Only people with no other way to get attention, sink to that level of desperation. Learn that now, and you will be accepted by many more people. Nudity (or near nudity) gets attention. Some attention you may not wish to receive.
Best wishes! Live and learn.

Not all christians are blind followers at least. Some do have their own thoughts in their head. But I think some people just find the idea comforting, that they can look in a book or ask a priest and they'll tell them what to do, and if it works out wrong it's the will of god and not their fault because they did everything the bible said and so god will have to forgive them if they made a mistake.
They just can't handle the idea that sometimes you are going to be confused and unsure and make mistakes and get hurt and that life will go on anyway.
The thought that the bible isn't 100% accurate would bring down their entire way of seeing the world and to them the world without a god to make everything okay is a sad, scary, lonely place.

The truth is nobody 'knows' anything. I'm sure we could all rewrite the Bible so that it makes better sense to us (I mean come on, Noah lived how long? and how big is this arc?) But just because it doesn't seem possible doesn't mean that the Bible stories aren't the absolute truth. So, I can't say THEY are nuts to believe every word and, hopefully, THEY won't say I'm a hypocrite to pick and choose parts to believe.

It's no more nuts that people believe in God than that children believe in Santa Claus. The only real difference is that nobody ever told them God was a fairy tale. It's like Russell's Teapot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell%27s_teapot).

Maybe they thought about it and decided to believe it. Is that such a crime? I don't believe it - but I would rather die than loose the freedom to believe it.
