so i basically have the straightest EVER. even when i get out of the shower it doesn't even wave. people are constantly telling me that my hair is really pretty when its straight but i kind of want wave to it. like jessica simpson's hair. keep in mind that my hair doesn't curl AT ALL. so i need some tips to get it to go wavy without using a curling iron.

Good luck. I've dealt with this problem all my life. I finally gave up on the curls and waves and let it do its on floppy thing. Mine is so straight that when I get up out of bed in the morning I don't even have to comb it. It just falls right into place.

If you live in a humid climate moving to a drier climate does help some with holding curl.

sleep in french braids or use a flat iron to straighten your hair:

"Sea spray waves
If you love the matt, scrunchy effect that seawater has on your hair, but not the condition it leaves it in, then ghd sea spritz is for you. Use it with your flat iron to create great waves with volume."

"Sea spray waves / Step-by-step guide
Roughly blow-dry your hair, using your fingers to lift the roots
Section your hair horizontally, from ear to ear
Take random sections of hair and, using a flat iron, create loose flowing curls by turning the iron towards you and pulling slowly through. By alternating the way the iron is turned, a random curl pattern is achieved. Repeat this throughout all sections to achieve a soft curl pattern throughout your hair
Section your hair as before
use a product on your hair concentrating on the mid-lengths and ends; scrunching, roping and turning the hair to maintain the shape and curl pattern. Repeat throughout the sections of hair, alternating the direction in which the hair is roped
Let the hair dry naturally, or scrunch and rope the hair as above and dry with a gentle diffuser."

When you get out the shower, put your wet hair in a bun. Just twist it and then roll it around the tie it up. Or you can buy this spray gel for curls by Garnier Fructis Curl Shaping Spray Gel, Strong! The link is below.

when you hair is a little damp after the shower, braid it TIGHTLY and go to bed. When you wake up your hair should be wavy- otherwise

i have really straight hair too and i recently got this "bed head hair waver" thing. It works REALLY well. It gets really hot, and you just hold it there- it comes extra with a curler but i dont use it. Its really good though- but it damages your hair ALOT. so try & do things naturally.

buy pantene shampoo and conditioner (the kind that says its for wavy to curly hair,i can't think of the name of it right now) and while your drying your hair it should start to look wavy but to make it wavy so it won't fade out later and make your hair straight again take a comb and kind of shake your hair out like theres someting in it or something.when its dry if that doesn't work i hate to tell you but you have to use a curling iron.

Have someone braid your hair in about 10-15 small braids! In the morning time your hair will be twice as thick and look great! I have two girls and this is what I do to make their hair look fantastic! It is cheap and not permanent!!!! :) It lasts them about 2 days!! Good Luck!

There are some shampoos and you can curl your hair lightly. only let the curling iron stay on for a few secs and then comb it right after so it will look wavy!!!!!!!!! :-)

I agree with braiding wet hair then sleep on it, or you could get a body wave perm at the hair salon.

i have somewhat wavy hair so this might not work for you, but after you wash it, comb thru it with you fingers, flip your head over and get as much moisture out while 'scrunching' it with an absorbant towel. I use Rusk 'Wired' as product afterward that - then just let it air dry.
