The best places to get a credit report are those that are free and provide reporting from all three major credit bureaus.

Method #1 (simplest and safest, because it's U.S. government guaranteed)

By law, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) now requires each of the nationwide consumer reporting companies – Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion – to provide you with a free copy of your credit report, at your request, once every 12 months. For more information, read “Facts for Consumers: Your Access to Free Credit Reports” at FTC.gov.

There are three ways to obtain a Free Credit Report under the FCRA:

1. Visit AnnualCreditReport.com (the only authorized site to fill orders for the free annual credit report you are entitled to under law)
2. Call 1-877-322-8228 and request your free credit report
3. Complete the Annual Credit Report Request Form (http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/include/r... and mail it to:

Annual Credit Report Request Service
P.O. Box 105281
Atlanta, GA 30348-5281

Method #2 (may not be an option, but something to keep in mind)

If you have been denied for credit, the rejection letter must list the credit bureau from which it obtained your credit file. Call the credit bureau listed on the letter, tell them you have been turned down for credit, and ask how you can receive a free credit report.

Method #3

If you have the need for a second report, use FreeCreditReport.com. Just be sure to cancel your trial membership within 30 days or you'll be charged $12.95/month thereafter.

You can do the same thing at myFICO.com to get a free credit score (...and credit report, but it's from Experian only). myFICO.com is an official site of the Fair Isaac Corporation (Developer of the FICO Score).

Hope this helps,

-Ted

I have been in the credit business for a long time and have pulled credit and reviewed almost every site on the net. You can go to www.annualcreditreport .com and get your 3 free reports once a year, however there are no scores, no monitoring, no score simulators etc. The best place to pull your credit that has accurate scores, 30 day monitoring, simulators etc is www.establishandmonitor.com, click on credit monitoring and select Credit Expert. It is hands down the best offer on the net today, yes it costs $1 dollar to pull, don't be cheap this is valuable information.

There are a lot of sources for your credit report. Go to experian, equifax or transunion on the web. Make sure you order a three bureau report, since over 70% of Americans have some inaccuracy on their credit report, and it is not always reported the same by all three bureaus.

I can pull your credit report for $25 dollars - It is a Tri-Merge report that shows your score from all three bureaus. (Equifax, Experian and TransUnion) But I recommend that you pull it directly through the bureaus because you are entitled to one free credit report each year. I think this is a good place to start. https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp If you have any questions about your score and would like pointers on how to make it better, send me an e-mail (longoriadiane@yahoo.com)

The above answers list two of the most common sites

www.annualcreditreport.com
and
www.freecreditreport.com

The Annual credit report site is free, set up by all three agencies in response to the federal government's requirement to provide one copy a year from each.

Free credit report is a private company that will provide the reports for free hoping you will sign up for there credit protection. They also want you to buy their other products and services. It takes more effort to get this one for free. You need to make sure you are not buying anything and cancel anything they force you to sign up for.

just a word of caution each agency will try to sell you a "score" that is not your FICO score. You have to pay to get your fico score and it would be from a company like freecreditreport.com.

go to AnnualCreditReport.com . It's really free! don't buy the extras and you'll get it from all three credit bureaus. You are entitled to a free report once a year from each credit bureaus. They're on that website. good luck.
