I am interested in heading to Atlanta sometime this year for a weekend getaway. 4 days. I want to know what are some good places to go to, where should I not go, and good restaurants. Is there a high Caribbean influence in Atlanta also?

Atlanta is one of the best tourist cities, but you have to come during the right time of the year. I highly suggest the Georgia Aquarium. Also the Westin Hotel/Sundial Restaurant (quite pricey, but the 360 degree view of the city is spectacular.) Also World of Coca Cola, Martin Luther King Center, Atlanta University Center (location of Spelman, Morehouse, Clark Atlanta and Morris Brown), Centennial Olympic Park, Turner Field, Georgia Dome, Busy Bee's Southern Restaurant, Southern Feast, Stone Mountain Park, Six Flags over Georgia, Zoo Atlanta, Underground Atlanta, the list goes on and on. And since the music influence is so strong here, the clubs are the best. There's plenty of Caribbean influence here, but you have to know where to go. Have fun!

Atlanta is not a very tourist-oriented town. I advise most people to keep driving to Savannah, if they're looking for something fun and exciting.

That said, Atlanta does have a nice new aquarium, as well as a new area called Atlantic Station. It's designed for out-of-town shoppers. There is also Underground Atlanta, which recently went through a massive overhaul. CNN Center is also OK. CNN, the Aquarium, and Atlantic Station are all within reasonable walking distance, and accessible to MARTA, Atlanta's mass transit system.

Depending on when you're going to be here, and you're personal tastes, you can't beat a show at the Fox. The ambience is fantastic, and even something as common as going to see a movie there (an attraction they offer in the summer months) is head and shoulders above everything else.

As for the Caribbean influence, there is not a Carribean section of the city, if that's what you're asking. There is one Carribean chain restaurant that I know of, Bridgetown Grill. There is one located in Midtown off of Piedmont Road, and another in Sandy Springs, just a bit north of the city.

Atlanta is a GREAT restaurant town. Your problem won't be finding a place to eat; it will be deciding on one. Depending on your price range, you can find a top-notch dining experience at any of the Buckhead Restaurants. Midtown also offers a variety of places to dine, with a variety of cuisines.

I spent a month in ATL last spring and some of the things I'd recommend are The Aquarium, Olympic Park, the Bodies exhibit at the Civic Center, The Coca-Cola Museum, CNN Studios. If you're a history buff, there is the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Kennesaw Mountain which has a rich Civil War history. And just for fun there is Six Flags or you could alway catch a Braves game if you enjoy baseball.

I have family there and the last time I went we did go to the coca cola factory. There is also a brand new aquarium that is supposed to be excellent. Call the local hotels and inquire about local attractions, front desk people usually know the area best.
