I would certainly recommend you bring your son to China with you, though not for the sake of racial diversity in China... Your son is a citizen of the world, and as such he should see a culture that has existed largely intact for almost 5,000 years. I think it would be as enjoyable for him to see China as it was for me to see India when I was 12. Exposure to new cultures and what is exotic (and that of course differs depending on what culture you come from), is great for kids and really helps to show them that there truly is a world of opportunities in life.
I hope you both enjoy your time in China!

I was wrong above, Chinese culture has existed for about 3600 years, not 5,000. Woops!!

Hi, I am a 14 year-old boy, living as an expat in China. Since we moved here, we have been through many struggles (especially those of which have to do with language issues) I have lived here almost two years know, and ironically, I am enjoying every moment of it!
If you are concerned about schooling, there are MANY schools here, each with different grades (or year groups as my British-based school calls them) and teaching styles to suit your child's needs.
I have made friends in China from all over the world. These ties will last us a lifetime. (Currently, we are planning to meet up for the 2008 Olympics)
I really do think that your son would learn about culture, history, and a whole new world by moving here. Any opportunity you have to get your child out to learn a new language, and culture (especially one that people say will be taking over America) should be taken, because your child will benefit for the future.

I cannot see why not, China will give your son a cultural education that no books can teach him.

Yes, very educational for your son. The people are
friendly to all europeans or foreigners. They may
look at you differently because they are unable to
communicate with you most of them anyway.
