I was at the bar the other day with my mom and her fiance and a group guys had the waitress bring me a beer.... Is it normal for guys to buy guys a beer? seemed strange

Yes it is normal. You may not believe this, but as an early step in trying to seduce someone is NOT the only reason to buy someone a drink. Some people do it just to be nice, with no expectation of anything in return. Not a drink bought for them in return, not a sexual favor in the bathroom, nor someone to wake up next to in the morning.
Amazing, isn't it?

Its not unheard of for other guys to buy a guy a beer. Only if they came over afterwards and hit on you would it be wierd. They may have seen you dressed in a team color that they cheer for. You may have to ask what was on the tv at the bar. If it was sports I would say its okay. If opera you may have a problem.

not like that...NO. if it was like buddies of yours and they were like hey let me buy ya a beer thatd be one thing or I know some guys go out and one will pay for whatever reason but random group of guys to buy you a beer.. EEK! Thats GAY!
