We just rescued a border collie/bl lab, 5 months old. He had kennel cough when we got him, he was treated for that before we took him. We had him 4 days, and the cough worsened. Took to vet, he gave another shot of antibiotics, and sent me home with more antibiotics and cough meds. 3 days later, still wasn't better, even worse. Took him to an animal hospital, They said he had pnemonia real bad. They gave Me a diff antibiotic and cough med. 24 hrs later, worse. Admitted Bailey to the hosp for 3 days. He had IV antibiotics and fluids. I brough him home yesterday, vet said it could take 2 weeks. Sent Me home with more meds, this time also Albuterol for his breathing. They said to keep him calm, and lots of fluids. Its not a problem keeping him calm, he has no energy. He ate his breakfast today, and drank about a cup of water. This was at 8am. He now wont eat or drink, and appears to be worse. Can anyone give Me any suggestions, Please, I can't lose this puppy. He is so sweet - please help

You dont want your pup to get dehydrated again and need IV's.. get yourself some pedialyte and a syringe. If he wont drink the pedialyte on his own then you can draw some up in the syringe and force it to him. Pedialyte will not only keep him hydrated but also give him some electrolytes that he could use! I would also get yourself some wet food and mix it with water until it is soupy enough to draw into the syringe and you can force feed him that as well if he wont take it on his own. Dont overdo the food though, you dont want to give him diarrhea. You can also give him some benadryl to try to keep him settled and rested. If he is less than 15 lbs Id give him half a tab, over 15 he can handle a whole one. Continue the meds and give them the weekend to work. If he is still going downhill by Monday you may need another trip to the vet!! Good luck to you and your pup!

Take your puppy back to the Vet. May require more I.V.s to stabilize. God bless you for caring, and at such a $$$ cost.

You need to get a second opinion. Sometimes it is best to have the dog checked by someone else. Good Luck.

Take him in the bathroom, turn on the hot shower and sit in there with him to help his breathing. Do this for as long as possible, as often as possible. Good luck.
