The Adam and Eve story - the 2nd creation story - reflects much from Ugaritic creation stories. These, such as the Gilgamesh Epic, rely on even earlier stories. Ur, where Abraham came from was in the center of such a culture.
A number of words are loan words from that culture and suggest that elements from several sources have been skillfully wover together. Obviously other people were alive - the Bible makes no claim to AE exclusivity and A means mankind.
So do I literally believe it to be historically/scientifically accurate? No. BUT I do believe it to be quite true/literal in expressing our attempt to understand our origin, male/female relationship/quest for knowledge/and the like. I literally believe A & E to express vital theological truths which humanity and our prebearers had sturggled eons to establish.

Do you mean the story of creation, or the story of man's first sin? I'll try to tackle both a little bit.
Yes, I do literally believe the Adam and Eve "story."
Number 1, I have had many other reasons to believe other statements the Bible has made which has verified its credibility. Why should I doubt THESE statements?
Number 2, all other explanations have flaws in their theory or just make too many HUGE assumptions.
Number 3, as for how man's sinful nature came about (A/E/S), this makes more sense than cheese and crackers! Have you ever noticed how people generally enjoy sinning, at least for a time? And it explains why Jesus had to die- we all sin.
Number 4, faith is a necessity. Not 'mother nature's recipe,' but God's recipe.

Even important theologians have faith that the creation tale of Adam and Eve is a ethical tale and can be considered as such. The money owed in Genesis are contradictory to it is very own self. besides, the story of Adam and Eve grew to become into taken from yet another faith that grew to become into plenty older. this would not propose that God did no longer create each and every thing, merely no longer in the way it is written.

How can you question a book written over several centuries without contradiction, either you believe the bible is the written inspired word of our Creator. Science is proving the bible everyday. You must have faith that there is something more to life than getting up in the morning and you exist then you die, whats the purpose? If evolution were true where is the half ape/man that still should exist? I personally cannot belive my great8 was an ape. I choose to believe in God and his Son, of which rrovided all an escape. I will pray for all who have no faith or belief.

Yes, I do, and the reason is because it is true. It is one of the very first things written in the Bible, which is the Word of God. God created all of humanity, and Adam and Eve were the first. It may seem ignorant to believe something from "some book", but the Bible isn't just some book, it is, as I said, the Word of God. It is faith that allows us to believe in our Father, and if we are without faith, then what are we left with?

Which is simpler to say to the masses, I did it or try to explain how you did it from start to finish? Especially when the masses have no clue as to what is going on!
Your issues is that you are trying to reason GOD with your human brain! You do not know how to make matter and would be hard put to create a system with so many variables, (NATURE), and get 1/5 of it to work.
Humans control nothing! Influence nothing, create nothing, do not know why they even come to earth, where the came from before coming here and where that will go when they leave here!
Still, in all of their ignorance, they try to pass judgment!

Yes
we accept what the Bible says by faith.
we trust what the Word of God says.
And, it just makes sense once you've taken it by faith. Look at the blue in the sky and the green on the grass and tell me God didn't do that.
Look at the little hand of a baby and realize that that little hand is going to grow up to have a hand a big as yours. All the working parts are already in place and the child is going to grow into an adult.
How can we say that it all just started with a huge explosion. Someone had to design all of this. It took someone with an intelligent mind and the wisdom to create.
I believe God did it.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses I believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God and as such I believe what it contains to be the Truth.
The account of creation is a literal account of what actually transpired. It is not symbolically written as is for example the Book of Revelation.
Therefore, when Jehovah, the God of all creation says that he formed man out of the dust of the ground, then I believe that is what He did

No, I do not.
Besides, the Christian god's punishment of the snake species is completely illogical. Why punish an entire species of unintelligent animals on the actions of the antagonist?
Genesis 3:14 NIV
"So the Lord God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life."
If Satan had taken the form of a dog instead, would dogs today be "deformed," legless creatures? How ridiculous.

No, Bible is a mere piece of fictional literature, based on some non-fictional histories. The story of Adam and Eve, however, has some good lessons we should understand.
