Because the residents are intelligent.

We're not necessarily pacifist. Our history includes many wars and battles from the war of 1867 to the current mission in Afghanistan. Canada 30 years ago was the best place on earth but I think secularism and a blind and uncritical adherence to socialist ideals has turned us into a bit of an incoherent swamp. Some of the smug responses to your question illustrate the ignorance that most Canadians have about the United-States.

It isn't because Canadians are necessarily more intelligent per capita than Americans - we're simply better educated in terms of the world. Most American students rarely learn any history or politics that aren't American, but in Canada we have a wider perspective. Also, because Canada heralds itself as a multicultural society, while the States are more of a melting pot. Subsequently, we have a more vocal representation from non-Christian religions, so the Church has far less control over our politics. Sadly, we're not as peaceful as we claim we are - after all, we are at war in Afghanistan, but because we don't believe we're the world's police force, we don't invade less powerful nations to commandeer their resources. Plus we don't have the military power to be aggressive (which is a good thing)

There are some Taliban who wish Canada was a little more pacifist. Harper is working on socialist part. Religious schools are funded by the taxpayers in Canada, whereas Americans are obsessed with "separation of church and state". Remember, Canada's head of state is also head of the church of England.

Look at American politics and there is your answer. Here the church stays out of politics and our bedrooms. We have health care and there may be a wait but better than going bankrupt over a serious illness. As for pacifist, we are not pacifists. We are more the ask questions first, shoot second. A lesson many countries could learn.

Cuz Canadians are the sh*t!!! They rock and are a living proof that all the republican party stands for is wrong. If you want a nice society, don't pick on the ones who are weak, try to help the sick, the poor and they won't come back and try to kill you, have more doctors and less cops, don't invade innocent countries for their black gold and stop raising generations of ethnocentric christian fundamentalists!!!!! If god existed, he wouldn't bless america, he would bless the world (GOD BLESS AMERICA IS ANOTHER PROOF OF THE US ETHNOCENTRIC BRAIN WASHING) BTW, I'm not Canadian but f*ck, I wish I was so badly!!!

B/c Canadians are smart. they've been around for centuries, they've learned how to live and treat each other.

America is still a baby compared to other world powers, we're still working out kinks in our system while other countries more or less understand theirs.

i hope there will come a time when Americans wise up and learn how to live life more rationally.

We believe in the separation of church and state.

We believe in helping others to ensure everyone receives equal treatment (equality and freedom).

We believe in peace and intelligent discussion to resolve conflict rather than killing randomly. Fight when necessary but not necessarily fighting.
