Having 5 bridesmaids and 5 groomsmen is average. When you have 7 or more that's too much. Good luck on your wedding!

I was in a wedding this past September and there were 6 bridesmaids and 6 groomsmen and it worked out just fine. There were also 3 ushers and, of course, the bride and groom. Everyone got in the pictures and they turned out just fine. I say...go for all 5!! I think you'll be glad you did. You would hate to have to chose to leave someone out, especially if they're all close to you. Good luck!

if you're having a very simple or small wedding, i think 5 is too much.. with you having 5 very close friends, i think you can get two or three of them to be the bridesmaids and the rest to be the secondary sponsors (for the veil, cord and candle).

but if you're having a big wedding, then go for it!!! i think it'd be fun...

we're actually planning to have a very simple wedding, so we might have a maid of honor and 2 bridesmaids.. plus the bestman and groomsmen..

the "proper etiquette" is to have 1 bridesmaid and groomsmen for every 50 people. But I say- it's your day! I'm having 6 bridesmaids/groomsmen and we're expecting 175 guests.

Personally I think three is a good number. However if your 5 friends are all close to you, don't leave one of them out. My sister had 7 in her wedding. It was too many in my opinion but it was her wedding and her day. So do what makes you happy, its your day!

Well I'm a little upset over the people my brother and his girlfriend picked in there wedding, just because their was no one from my family in it at all, Just hers... I hope if you have sisters that u remember them on your big day too. But if you do or don't 5, is ok. 5 really isn't that many..

No five bridesmaids and groomsmen sounds about the average.

I once went to a wedding with 8 of each.....the photographer was a professional so everybody in the wedding party was included in the pictures.

It should be fine.

Nope. I had five and it was fine. You might ask the photographer to make sure that they do close ups of pairs or small groups if you are wanting to make sure you see lots of faces. Congratulations and have a great wedding.
