is it necessary to wash the bed sheets, blankets, pillows etc. since its contagious?

It wouldn't be a bad idea. Also buy some Clorox wipes and clean door knobs and don't forget to clean all of the bathrooms. Your chances of re-infecting yourself are very slim, but it's nice to be considerate of others.
