It looks very painful but I don't know how to treat it. Is it just conjuctivitis, or is it something else? I can't get her to a vet until Monday. Thanks

Several things could be happening. There are neurologic problems that can cause the third eye lid to elevate that are not necessarily "emergencies". Also, anything causing pain (as you seem to indicate is present) can make the third eye lid come up. This could be around or on the surface of the eye such as inflammation of the lids/conjunctiva or more seriously on the cornea. Corneal ulcers are very painful and should be treated as soon as possible. Severe ulcers or injuries to the eye can lead to a rupture if deep enough or if they become infected with the wrong type of bacteria. Foreign bodies may also get caught under the lids or the third eye lid and continue to cause additional damage the longer they are present. Pain INSIDE the eye can also cause a dog to bring up the third eye lid - this could include very serious, painful and vision threatening problems such as glaucoma (high pressure in the eye) or uveitis (inflammation inside the eye). The safest thing to do is to have your dog seen as soon as possible to determine which of these causes is to blame. They should be able to perform testing to find out what is going on and what caused it. These would include a tear test and fluorescein staining; administration of a topical anesthetic generally tells you if it is a surface problem or an inside problem. More information on your pet might help lead towards a cause (age, breed) also.

Most likely if it is red and swollen then it is conjuctivitis. They get it just like us.. unfortunatley there isnt really anything you can do at home to help this unless you have some eye ointments that you have used on your dog in the past like tri-optic P. You want to avoid putting anything with steroids in it until you know for sure that is is conjunctivitis or "pink eye".. if your dog is calm and still for you, you can get a cool wash cloth and hold it over the eye for a few minutes to help with swelling and pain. Hope it goes well!

it would want to be a mast cellular tumor (they stay small), if this is not interfering with the canines's eye and it does not strengthen larger, you may wait till eventually your next vet exam to have the vet take a verify out it. one in each of our cats had one on his eyelid, it change into really even as it higher sufficient to push the eyelashes hostile to the interest that the vet did the minor surgical operation to take it off. After a month we couldn't even tell he'd ever had a lump there.

My great dane had to have eye surgery for the same problem.
It's better known as the third eyelid. It may be treatable at home but I suggest you contact your vet.
From what I've read there is medication but most likely a surgical procedure which alleviates the problem. When my dog got back he had lashes like Tammy Fay...:-) He had no other problems after the procedure.

Call your vet or an on-call vet and ask them. I am a dog groomer and this could be very bad. So take care of it ASAP. Even if you have to go to a different vet, I would.
