My hair is not curly, but very poofy and frizzy. I live in South Florida where it is VERY humid, so my hair has twice the frizz. I have tried just about every frizz reducing and poof reducing shampoo and conditioner known to man. None of them work on my hair. My hair is very thick and long, so it takes about 2 hrs to blowdry and another hour to straighten it with a flatiron. I just don't have the kind of time or patience required to do that every day. Even when I do blow dry and straighten it, it turns out poofier than it was before. I have spent the last 10 years of my life wearing a pony tail, and I am VERY ready for a change. I am willing to pay the money for a good stylist to straighten my hair. Is this the right option for me? Any better ideas?

it would look really good.. until your normal hair starts to grow back..then it would look like half of your normal hair and half really straight . its not really healthy either

I have my beautician license. This is a hard one. You really need to make an consultation in a better known Salon and see what they think. I would say no, as hair like yours is fragile to begin with. The chemicals that are used for this procedure is perm solution, believe it or not. It is a very simple process to do, but it is also harsh on the hair. What you may consider doing is finding someone who has the training to cut hair like yours. Not everyone has the same training and even if they do, which some of the chain stores do, NO ONE cuts hair the same and don't ever let them tell you they do. When I hear someone say this I just want to roll my eyes. We all have had Drivers ED, does that mean we all drive alike? Nooo. Those are my suggestions. Good Luck!

Actually any hair straightening product is not good for any hair.. It comes out and the curls/waves will eventually come back, just like someone who gets a perm to curl their hair, eventually the perm grows out as well... Straightening products can also make your hair fall out and not grow back. It slows the time for it to grow , I used it ears ago, and some hair around my front forhead and by the temples was gone after I put the stuff on, and it took years for it to grow back, it looked funny.. not a good funny either.. Consider before you do that.. Blow drying help take some curl away, and helps the hair to look more straighter.

noooooooooo....
it will make it worse believe it or not. by damaging each strand with the harsh chemicals it will cause it to not want to lay with the other hair strands and break the folicules and poof out even more. you will also have to use a straight iron on it everyday because it does not actually straighten your hair.
I feel your pain though I have long out of control hair and have tried everything (even a straightener) try a rubbing a dime sized amount of conditioner with a few drops of olive oil in it when wet after a shower.

chemical straightening does not work at all!! mi mom got it, and i got the one where they actually straighten it with a flatiron, and mine actually worked. mi moms hair cost more and i saw no difference. mi mom has really poofy and frizzy hair, and it turns sleeky and straight when she uses dove moisture infusing shampoo and conditioner, and lets her hair dry b4 going to sleep instead of sleeping on it wet.

ps: combine straightening and drying into one by blowdrying first, for like 2 minutes, then press and round barreled brush and the dryer together with hair in between and pulling out, it does wonders =)

Its as simple as this:
If your willing to make a commitment to straight hair kiss your curls goodbye.
OR
Dont do it if you want to switch back and forth from curly to straight hair. Just remember your stuck with straight hair until that grows out and if you try to curl it you will fail miserably! ;)
Whatever you choose good luck!

i had my hair chemically straightened and it ended up making it worse : / maybe a shorter cut that is easier to dry & straighten.
