How come when christians pose their little "good samaritan" questions to atheists, the majority of atheists feel it is necessary to answer in ways satisfying to christians?

I think I have missed the train to netherland. Anyone care to elaborate?

Appeasement for the misguided and unseeing is kindness to a fault.
Whether this is good or not is another question.
peace out

Athiests in general are more tactful with factually based answers instead of emotional ones. I don't think that using a calm intellectual approach to superstition can be viewed as "going soft". It would be like being mean to children who believe in Santa Claus. It really isn't necessary. I'm a believer in trying to meet people where they are at instead of trying to force them into thinking like I do if they aren't prepared for it.

However, I don't suffer fools lightly. I'll call a stupid idea, stupid if it is and I will back it up with facts or demonstrations of illogical thinking. I hope atheists don't go soft as there is a world out there that is screaming for common sense!

so you think being a rude Fundy Atheist is the way to go. ah well ... no different really then from the rude Fundy Christian or the rude Fundy Muslim.

the need to display unprovoked aggression in conveying your point of view is an indicator of frustration with is an indicator of insecurity which is an indicator of inadequacy.

ALL Fundies have this mental/emotional problem cascade.

If someone asks a question within the structure of a belief system, and I understand said belief system well enough to give a satisfactory answer within its confines, I will do so. No matter what the religion, actually.

ETA: Are we going to Holland? I've always wanted to go to Holland.

I answer in ways satisfying to myself; that is, I tell the truth. If that makes a Christian happy, I can't help that ;-)

Some of my best friends are christians. Heck my wife, sister and mother are/were all christians. We are not trying to insult them. Just trying to save them from wasting their life on a lie.

Could you please elaborate first? What kind of answers do you mean?

Personally, I usually try to be polite to those that are not being ignorant. Those that irk me generally are those that get bitten back... others usually get a polite, or funny, answer.

I actually have feelings for my fellow human beings. Being atheist does not make me any less the humanitarian nor does it make me mean or hateful. I try to be nice to everyone. Why don't you try it?

I believe the word you are looking for is respect. Human beings can be caring you know.
