rofl. I don't believe things without proof. Sorry if that bursts your bubble. I prefer fact over fiction and I can't live my life otherwise.

So in a sense you're telling us to be blind and believe in God even though there is no proof that He exists?
I think that's wrong. My religion, for example, is about believing in God and having proof that He exists. It's not based on believing in something that may not be there. I don't think that Christianity goes that way either, even though some Christians (like yourself) see it that way. Christianity isn't suppose to go like that. There must be something in the Bible that's backing what I'm saying.
What you probably meant to say "What is it with everyone and scientific proof?". Becuase some people believe that if it's not there physcially that it doesn't exist, which is also wrong. I mean, there are millions of things that science can't explain so the chances are that God exists even though scientists and these new age non-believing researchers can't prove it through science.

Good question, but there is much evidence to back our faith. A couple of books are:
The Case for Faith - Lee Strobel
The New Evidence that Demands a Verdict - Josh McDowell
Not that it will matter much, as those books are mostly read by people that already believe.
I firmly believe that non-believers that refuse to look at the evidence do so because the don't WANT to believe, because that would mean that they would have to submit their lives to Christ.
John 3:19
This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
(from New International Version)
Heb 11:1
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
(from New International Version)
Matt 16:4
A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah." Jesus then left them and went away.
(from New International Version)

the reason that a lot of people ask for proof is because religious idiots tell us that they are the only "true path" or "true religion". if your going to tell me that what you say is true, you damn well better prove it. also, look at history, your belief in a monotheistic God, im assuming Christian of some variety, is a hodgepodge of other religious beliefs taken to ease the persecution of early Christisans and also to allow ppl to convert easier. Christmas? Coincides with the Winter Solstice, and most theologists believe that Christ was born sometime in mid to late October. the cross? looks alot like an Egyptian Ankh (symbolizing eternal life) doesn't it? being a history major, i could LITERALLY give you dozens of examples of Christian theology and dogma being taken (sometimes almost word for word, like with the precious Ten Commandments, take a look at Hammurabi's code of law) from other sources. but, you tell us that we have to seek, fine, we will, but you had better at least have SOME knowledge of historical fact to back up your beliefs. and your last line leaves you really open to ridicule "no proof unless you honestly seek it and want it to be true"? are you KIDDING me?!?!?!, so, according to you, if i want my friend to not have been raped, bc i WANT IT TO BE TRUE, it will be? Grow up.

Faith is useless.
"religion is about faith in things that cannot be proven."
Exactly. I could believe that somewhere in outer space, a giant chocolate chip cookie exists. I don't any real proof of the cookie's existence, but no one can disprove it either. Therefore, neither party of believers or that of non-believers is automatically correct. The giant cookie's existence becomes a theory, just like the Big Bang or creationism.
Sheesh, how many times do we have to go through this on Y!A?

That's great if faith alone works for you. Some of us are different and need to see proof before we believe. Frankly I don't believe existance of a god of any kind can be proved.

Faith is fine. Not everyone works that way, though, and you can't expect everyone's minds to work the same way. As I've said before, I believe the major difference between a theist and an atheist is simply the way they interpret the evidence.

Humanity is quite content with sitting on the rock pile, as there is safety there in numbers, but all one has to do is stand up and look over the fence to see something new (for those who don't know, that is a leap of faith, and yes, it does take courage to do it)

Christians, Muslims, Catholics, etc. keep telling me what they believe in is "true" and "correct" so I ask for PROOF, then im told to take it on faith....
I don't just go around asking people to give proof that they're right, I only ask for proof whenever im told that something is or is not true.

Exactly, you have faith, and I have morals. Maybe you should learn about morality. You follow a God who sends people to Hell for not having faith in the right religion. We are not born with faith. There are many religions in the world. If we were told what is the right path, you would have faith. What you have now, sadly, is only blind-faith. I think I'll keep my morality.

I agree
I use a definition in the encyclopedia to talk about evolution just being a theory. Didn't even say anything about God, religion or faith. Look at the responses I get.
