Um, basically what I asked - I don't have severe acne, but while whiteheads go away, I have raised red bumps, that won't move! They've been there for months, I think they're called papules... how do I get rid of them?

Also, blackheads won't go away.. any ideas?

I have an acne treatment that has won me the best answer better then twenty times. Often, the person who voted it the best answer was amazed at how well it worked, even those who had severe cases of acne. I'll copy and paste it below.

Use a hot compress on it (a washcloth, sponge, or anything that will allow you to apply moist heat to the area), and then use cool water to close the pores. Do the process over and over again, about five or six times. Use soap to wash the area, rinse it with warm water, blot off the excess water with a clean towel, and then treat it with an alcohol soaked cotton ball. It should be gone within five to six hours.

Here are some of the previous comments I cut and pasted from those who voted it as the best answer, (Copied and pasted as written. Capital letters seen are as originally answered)

it depends on the extent of the acne. acne is classified according to severity--number of pimples and areas of body where it is found. the less severe forms can be treated with over the counter products, but more severe forms such as large pustules or acne located on the back and trunk will require prescription treatment. the most important thing you can do is to wash the affected area(s) twice daily with warm water and a MILD soap. for mild acne, apply a product containing benzoyl peroxide (gel is more effective than cream) twice a day to the clean area, but start with a low dosage--2.5% and increase as tolerated. it is important not to start with the strongest OTC product which contains 10% benzoyl peroxide because there are side effects. this ingredient causes dryness, burning, and redness of the area so you want to start low and go slow as not to overdo it. if your acne is more severe, see a dermatologist and you can be prescribed appropriate treatment.

I was talking to my friend and she said she had toothpaste on her face. I asked her "why?" She said it was to get rid of pimples.

What I heard people do about blackheads, is they boil water over a stove, put a cloth over their face, lean over the pot and let the steam clense their pours.

I know it sounds crazy...
