Well, the Mississippi Gulf Coast (the "shadow region" more directly affected by Katrina) is getting back off its knees...slowly, but more quickly than much of Greater New Orleans. Casinos have reopened, people are moving back, and housing prices are higher than pre-Katrina, but the MGC is looking forward to hosting tourists for Mardi Gras and more permanency of residents due to the job market expanding. I live in Starkville, MS -- 5.5 hours north of Katrina's impact zone-- and already we have evacuee families that we'd hosted last year returning home to Slidell, Ocean Springs, and other impacted cities to rebuild and restart their lives.

Where you from New York ............because if you lived in nola about 1 year after katrina everyone was devestated homes were destroyed even familys it was emotional but i think we are managing to rebuild but it will take a while to get the same feeling of our home new orleans b/cs now theres still ppl living in fema trailers, ppl with tarps on their roofs, and some homes still gutted. I say another 3 years and we will get back to normal........thats if another hurricane dont pass through
all i can say is as long as we have that new orleans spirit we will always rebuild
GOD BLESS NOLA <3
