A guy at my work is not attractive at all, and single. So one day I ask what his requirements are, to possibly set him up with a friend. Lets just say he wants a victoria's secret model who plays video games and has no desire for a longterm commitment and will never interupt him when he is speaking or hanging out with his friends. His dream girl is impossible and his ideas are screwed up, but cute girls still flock to him. And now that you mention it, one of a couple is almost always a lot more attractive than the other...

When you see a not so hot guy with a wonderful girl you think what's wrong with that couple, but most couples are like that. I had a relationship like that once I liked him for his personality not looks some people do that. Of course others just go for looks and don't care about how the person acts or what their personality is like.

Well, I'm not denying what you have observed but there are a variety of studies that say otherwise.
It basically comes down to "like with like."
Stronger more evolutionaryily fit mates tend to gravitate towards each other.
People who are similarly financially capable also.

As to why Ugly geeks are picky about who they date: It takes sufficient strength of character to accept you can only get ugly girls so as to render one not quite as much of an an geek. Kinda a paradox.
