I smoked for over 20 years. Gave it up to honor Jesus. It was not easy. not easy at all. In fact I give Him all the praise and honor because it was an answer to prayer. Anyone who has experience answered prayer knows exactly what I am talking about. Anyone who has not experienced it, well, I hope and pray that someday you can.

...I don't really know any believers who currently smoke. I know some ex-smokers like me.
...By the grace of God, I was able to quit in 1977 (age 20), after smoking cigarettes off and on for several years. The first three days were the hardest; after that, the desire seemed to melt away. This was about 6 months before I became a Christian.
...Christians are honored to be indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and Scripture says our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are to be good stewards of our bodies by caring for them; we are to glorify God with them and through them.
...In my teens, I was rebellious and I hung around with some not-so-good "friends" who engaged in many bad habits and sins, including drinking beer and hard liquor (under age), cigarette smoking, marijuana use, and they had an obsession with promiscuity and pornography. I engaged in several of these sinful and worthless; by God's grace I was able to quit these things and start living for Jesus.
...Besides the known health risks, tobacco products are very expensive - I wish I had all the money that went up in smoke. And we have loved ones who suffer today from the affects of years of cigarette smoking; thank God I was able to quit.
...Advice to parents - make sure you know who your kids are running with, where they are, and what they are doing. You have a responsiblity and a right to know where they are.

I wish people would stop asking questions like this. Are you aware that Christians are people like anyone else, they have weaknesses too? I don't smoke, but if I have one more York peppermint patty I'm going to break my scale.
Everyone has temptations, and we don't always say no to them, even when we love Jesus, and yes.....know that our bodies ARE the temple of the holy spirit.

Yes the body is the temple of the holy spirit.
And most Christians don't smoke and if they do we should pray for them, that they can overcome that problem.
But the Catholics do smoke and they think its OK...strange, I don't recall anything about Jesus smoking and we should model ourselves after Him.
God Bless !

Maybe they haven't allowed God to forgive them enough about it yet. Is it a sin? Probably. But so is over eating in that regard.
Smoking is a habit that we pick up before being born again. We never would start such a habit after our rebirth.

You really should use the word (some) because not very many Christians smoke. I don't and never will.
