I've never heard that before. The tofu thing might be true because it has protein... We have the same avatar!

No it wont help. Wouldn't it be great if it did! Actually it can damage your hair by drying it out and washing away necessary oils and nutrients. Nothing can help hair grow faster but you can take care of the hair you have now and prevent it from having to be trimmed or cut too drastically in the process of growing out your hair.

1. Take a daily multi vitamin such as 'One-A-Day'. Your hair likes zinc and biotin and both of the above mentioned vitmins contain ample amounts of these. Don't waste your hard earned money on 'super vitamins.' Your body only requires so many vitamins per day and simply discharges the excess. You can't put twenty gallons in a ten gallon tank. In some instances, over dosing on supplements can actually be fatal.

2. Do not over brush your hair. With every stroke you damage your hair more. Brush only as much as you need to style the hair, then stop. And NEVER brush your hair while wet!!!

3. Buy a good quality brush or comb without sharp plastic or metal ridges. This is one of the common factors leading to split ends, as is over brushing.

4. Don't be a penny pincher. Buy good quality salon products. The chemicals used in many if not most over the counter shampoos and conditioners, contain very harsh ingredients such as 'ammonium laurel sulfate' which can actually dry your hair out and cause breakage and split ends. Even worse, many contain a form of silicon, and that can be very bad for your hair. 'Pantene' is the worst of these in our opinion.
I didn't realize that the products at the store such as pantene could harm my hair and then I purchased some salon hair product and my hair went from damaged and frizzy to amazing. Plus since salon products are not watered down all you need is a dime sized amount! Also only shampoo your roots and condition the ends...also try not to wash your hair everyday it can harm you hair and if you must skip shampoo every other day and condition only.

5. Don't constrict your hair with tight bands, hats, braids and the like. These also lead to split ends and hair breakage.

When you get split ends they make the ends of your hair which take the most beating thin and see through. The eventually will break off and leave the bottom section of your hair very thin and not managable, it wont hold a curl or straighten well.

6. Lay off the heat. And if you need to use heat always use a protectant spray!

Good luck with growing it out!

No, if you shampoo your hair too often it will become dry, a shampoo every other day, more often in the summer, and tofu will not make your hair grow faster. Get the split ends trimmed every 6/8 weeks to keep it healthy.

I've heard the tofu thing but I haven't heard the one about showering many times a day. Besides, who has time to do that that much? Try taking biotin, lecithin, and drink water and soy milk. Also, take a good vitamin or prenatal vitamin. Horse Mane N Tail shampoo and conditioner also aid in decreasing breakage and thereby enable it to grow faster.

Hmm everyone here says the havent heard of the "washing your hair thingy" but from my experiences I think its true..
I cut my hair to about shoulder length at about November 22 and curled it for alll of December and washed it everyday (and remember curling it makes your hair even shorter!) so up until yesterday Jan the 5th I straightened it and I was quite surprised that it grew about 3 or 4 inches!!! So I'd say its true and as for the tofu think I'm not quite sure but if it contains protien it should..after all isnt hair made of protien lol.

washing your hair many times a day will dry it out and make it brittle and cause split ends. it will not help it grow faster. i'm sure the tofu will though! only wash your hair once a day. if you absolutely have to, keep washing your hair at maximum, two times a day.

Hair thrives in moist enviroments, so this may be the origin of your belief. Just as hair breaks when extremely dry, giving it tons of moisture prevents it from breaking. Thus, less split ends and more hair kept on your head.

But, there are other ways to moisturize your hair besides showering 24/7. You could apply moisturing conditioner on a frequent basis, use products that are humectants, or mist your hair from time to time with a spray bottle.

I don't think either of those are true. I've heard that massaging your head while your put shamppo in it for 3-4 minutes helps it grow faster because it stimulates the roots.

Washing it will not make it grow faster.

The protein in the tofu may be helpful...can't hurt.
