So far, I've read answers from people saying that schizophrenics shouldn't work, they have multiple personalities and are consistently unstable. In reality, some schizophrenics are stable to the point of normality and can lead productive, fulfilling lives. Why don't people actually read a real book about schizophrenia instead of spouting off their uninformed opinions?

Many people are uninformed about what schizophrenia is, actually what many psychological disorders are. They hear psychological disorder and think crazy person, it's their personal ignorance. In reality, people with schizophrenia can be some of the most intelligent people. (A Beautiful Mind was a good movie--although Hollywood--about how intelligent schizophrenics can be).

via unusual postures they're probable pertaining to a variation of schizophrenia stated as catatonic schizophrenia. There, the affected person is so "of their very very own international" that they do no longer observe you and can be sat in an strange place oblivious to it. you could now and lower back pass their limbs right into a sparkling place and that they gained't react. Schizophrenia is an extremely severe psychological sickness and that i'm undecided you would be on right here asking approximately it till somebody sat you down and instructed you which you have it. it is all very actual to the schizophrenia affected person. Depersonalization is an extremely uncomplicated symptom of stress, and OCD/stress are very heavily appropriate. i could ask for a psychiatrist if it extremely is achieveable to get looked at. If it grew to become into schizophrenia the faster it is caught the end result's notably extra useful!

They are ignorant because the T.V. Hollywood makes people with this mental illness look bad. Also the bews, they never tell people about the good things people with schizophrenics do--only the bad things when they get into trouble. It makes peopale afraid of them.

I am in college for human services and my prfoessors taught me that people with schizophreina are NO MORE dangerous than the average person. They ussually stick to themselves and avoid others.
............................
The reason people dont read the facts, is because we have been taught not to question that which we hear. If we hear many people saying something is true, such as if you go out in the cold for too long you'll get a cold, we believe it is true because everyone has sadi so in the past, therefore it must be true. But ussually it is wrong!

With that said, It is best to write it as this "people with schixophrenia..." or "people with disabilities." To say "handicapped people," "disabled people," the mentally retarded," or "schizophrenics," implies that the WHOLE being of that person is nothing but disabled.... Buy saying "people with schizophrenia" or "people with__________" shows that there is more to the person than just the handicap. It lets it be known that the person may also be a mother/father, an artist, etc.

just my thoughts,
sammie

P.S. The word "LUNATIC" comes from the word "LUNAR." Lunar comes from the word "MOON" it was thought that people tended to get abit more "crazy" during the full moon. thats why people use that nasty word lanatics!

I think some people are just too lazy to educate themselves. I can't believe in 2007 some people still equate schizophrenia with Dissociative Identity Disorder. I agree with you completely. Commenting on subjects with misinformation just makes the person look foolish. Especially now when you have tons of information at your fingertips on the Internet. You don't even have to leave your house and go to the library.

You are asking way too much from people to understand the phenomenon of Schizophrenia when most people in today's society are too ignorant to spell properly. Most people have no idea of simple health related issues. The world is at the fingertips of all Internet users and the ignorance is still pathetically overwhelming. Mothers have no idea what is wrong with their kid(s) when they become sick nor the common sense to find out. This is a very scary thought of the lack of education in parenting. Social ignorance is on a major increase and only becoming worse.

people are dumbasses and think they know everything just because they watch e.r.

people with schizophrenia don't have multiple personalities. people with MULTIPLE PERSONALITY DISORDER have multiple personalities.

but people with schizophrenia have schizophrenia because they can't distinguish reality from fantasy.

someone with schizophrenia could be stable, but it's unlikely. to be stable they would have to be medicated. only a small percent of schizophrenics know they have schizophrenia, so they wouldn't know to get medicated.

obviously you are offended by other people because you either think you have schizophrenia, or you know someone who has it. right?

People are really frightened of being crazy themselves. They would like to pretend that schizophrenic people are totally different to themselves, so there is no way they could ever 'end up like that'.

Also, I can't think of one famous 'out' schizophrenic, expect for a few obscure mathematicans who have had sentimental movies made of their lives.

I know what you mean! I read things about bipolar that are way off, however not as bad as the one post I read about schizophrenia meaning MPD. I did respond to that post telling people the diff. between the two.
I think people do believe they are giving correct info. The problem is, in the health area, we shouldn't give info. unless we are possitive it's the correct info.

Believe me when I tell you this is not a flippant answer.
People are too busy with their own lives to worry about schizophrenics. They fear the unkown.
