Concentration is enhance by a nero transmitter in the brain called acetalcholine through a process called synapses (electric pulses that fire between nerves or dendrites and anions, I believe are the terms). Caffeine, green tea, Ginko, Gota Cola, and Siberian Ginseng are a few suggestions that may help. Then there are psychological drugs like Ridlin prescribed by doctors. Non-drug related suggestions could include trying to find a way to link what you cannot concentrate on to something you are familiar with- like in math- sometimes you lose concentration because you do not know why something is necessary- maybe ask your professor what the purpose of this is in practical use or research it yourself.

I'd try ginko biloba or ginsing for a quick fix, but if you often have problems concentrating, look into finding out whether or not you have ADD. Stratera is a newer ADD drug and works quite well. Are you a woman? Many women with ADD are not diagnosed.

Stimulants...caffeine is a stimulant and when not taken in large quantities can help you concentrate. There's also amphetamines such as Concerta that are prescribed for ADD.
