Yoy can be both enlisted or an officer to be in special forces. Officers must be a CPT or 1LT, enlisted used to have to be an E-4, but now you can enlist with the 18X option, where you are given a chance to complete Special Forces Assessment and Selection after completing Basic/AIT, airborne training and 4 week Special Operations Preparation Course. Remember, if you enlist on a 18x enlistment option, you are given a chance, but if you wash out, you still must complete your enlistment as an infantry soldier.

They can be either. you just have to go through SFAS which is special forces assesment and selection. it is only a few months long and then you go through the Q course or qualification course. If you pass this you go onto language school to learn your language. The rank structure is very loose once you are in an A team so you have a commander but most guys go by first names because all are just as proficient at their job. You have to be an E-6 (staff sergeant to get in) or of course any level of officer from LT on up.

Both, like every type of unit in the military. There is a command structure for the elite forces that consist of soldiers (enlisted) and officers (leadership/command).

So, there are both enlisted and officers and most of the training is together, officer and enlisted.

Enjoy

They can be either one, but the selection process is rigorous and demanding. They only want the very best, but that is expected from an elite force.
