I have very bulky, but muscular thighs, and I hate them! My inner thighs have like a flab of fat (not muscle). I really want to know of any possible way (not surgery or pills) I can make my thighs look more slim, or in other words not extra flab of fat. I want my thighs to still look muscular but with more of a straighter look. Please help!!!

There is no site specific way of losing fat... for instance, the old myth about working your abs to burn belly fat isn't true. To get rid of love handles, you need to lose overall fat. That happens with exercise and watching your diet.

The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode.

Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy. In your case you may want to avoid exercises that would further bulk up your thighs.

In essence what you want is a "cutting" diet. Fat gives you 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat, multiply by 9, then calculate what percentage the fat calories are of your total daily calories. Restricting the calories from fat to about 20% of your total intake is ideal for a maintenance diet... that isn't overly restrictive. Of note, you need some fat in your diet. For instance, the body uses fat to produce hormones.

Doing exercise that will burn off fat is the way to go here. Light aerobic exersice will cause the fat cells to be depleated due to lactic acid caused by the lack of oxygen to the muscle tissue. Such exersice as long distance swimming will support the weight and target this area perfectly. Avoid things like squats, where a direct weight is applied throught the muscle as this would cause your thighs to bulk up. Other activities would be, cycling, rowing, etc. But be sure to do anything in an aerobic setting.

P.S. Be sure to stretch correctly before and after you exercise, this will also help in the breaking down of fat cells and create a leaner, sleeker look to the thigh!

At most gyms, they have a machine that you sit on and you put two bars with padding inside of both of your thighs and you do sets of pulling your legs together and pushing them apart. All you need is a resistance on your inner thighs. Try putting your hands criss-crossed on each of your inner thighs and pushing them together. That will cause the same resistance created in the gym. Good luck :-)
