What did you lie about?
Did it make you feel bad about your self?
Does it still haunt you?
Was it to help someone else?
How you feel about the lie will tell you whether it was a bad lie of not.
You see the only true sin against God is sin again ones self. We are made in the likeness of God, so... sin is anything that hurts us in a personal way. Like something that eats away at you inside, this cuts off the flow from the creator, because you don't feel it was the right thing to do, you are hurting yourself, (the eating way at you from the inside; telling the truth helps.)
But, not to worry. God is forgiving. When you know you did something wrong, then you have already learned that lesson, and I'm sure you won't make the same mistake again.
In short; This Is How We Learn!
Do things in and with your life that keep you at peace with yourself, (and ultimately God)

Love is way more important than honesty. If evil people are at your door you could lie and say the innocent family member they want to murder isn't home.
You should never bear false witness against anyone. I can't imagine a case where bearing false witness against someone would ever be acceptable.
Some people use truth as an excuse to be mean.

sometimes, it is necessary at some points in life.
For example: If I put a gun to your head and told you that I would shoot you unlesss you told me that you thought donkeys were the greatest creature ever made, and you said yes even though you didn;t mean it, I don't think anyone would call you a sinner. If you said "No, I can not say that because I do not agree", you may be more pure, but you are also really stupid..... ;)

thou shalt not bear false witness is the usual reference . And of course their is the ethical sense of purjury . Lying is not good but can be justified as if your loved ones lives were dependant upon a lie. I say tell the truth.
