There is a movement well underway to provide more support for victims. Check the website out below of a company that is doing this for many state's prison systems and local jails.
Victims can sign up to be notified whenever an offender is up for parole (so the victim can either appear before the examiners or sent a letter), is being released, and even each time they are moved within the criminal justice system. All activities for free.
While these activities are good - I do not support allowing victims to confront the offender in court and make a statement. To me, in most cases, the offender is probably just laughing their a** off at the victim.

victims should have a LOT more rights.. All I have heard on here is "is the death penalty too harsh"...was the death of that person that they killed harsh.. This country focuses too much on the comfort and ease of the offender than the suffering of the victims and their families. I think victims should be able to have a say so in the judgement.. If my sis were killed, I would want to be able to tell the judge "kill him and in which way to kill him" Victims are too often put on trial and looked as the perp not the victim.. ie) rape victims.. the frist thing brought up is her past sexually history.. when the courts hear she has had a sexual past,, the rape goes out the window..

More... Victims get very little rights. A 25 year old murderer that murders a 20 year old girl could get away with 20 years. So with good time, and parole, that murderer could be out of jail by the time he is 40. Some justice that is.

What are you talking about? More or less rights to do what? Victims are still be victimized by the system AFTER the crime takes place!

More. My ex almost killed me, was locked up for a few weeks & let go with "time served". I wasn't invited to the trial & had no input for what happened after his release. Walk & my shoes & tell me.......footnote: I was the breadwinner!
