You'll probably sleep better if you work out before sleeping. Working out burns off excess sugar supplies which keep you awake. Another tip might be to drink a warm drink after you've done your excercise and before you settle to go to sleep. This raises the bodies temperature and causes your body to tire as it tries to cool you down. Try to avoid caffine or sugary drinks. Perhaps a malted drink, such as Horlicks, would be good! Endorphins will have little effect two hours after exercise!!

Yes, working out that closely to your bed time can disrupt your sleep. Working out releases endorphins that give you sort of a natural high. Studies show that working out shortly after waking up is best for your body. For some reason it has more of an overall effect, plus it will raise your metabolism for the entire day, great for weight loss or control.

I've noticed that if I work out about 1-3 hours before I go to bed, I sleep better than if I don't. I'm getting to the point where I can't sleep if I don't work out before I go to bed.

Ahhh...yes, endorphins, heart rate, blood pressure, all of your body/brain functions. Just for an example sit on the couch for 10 minutes and relax. Then go sprint for 10 minutes ( you will not be able to do it) and try to relax in 20 minutes...your heart rate will still be high, and you will be sweating.

It could. It used to happen to me when i had an aerobics class at 9pm and couldn´t go to bed before midnight. You can try a warm relaxing bath and a light dinner when you come back home, and see of that helps, though.
