Is it possible to have anorexia and bulemia at the same time.
I thought this girl (my friend, sort of) had bulemia because there was alot of evidence. She had mentioned throwing up her food cause food made her sick, we have heard her throwing up befor in our bathroom, and she was binging at our house one night. Then there are times when she will not eat. She will order things and pretend they are too spicy and that she doesn't like them. She tries to hide it by offering the food to others to taste. She never hardly eats and when she does I honestly think she's throwing it all up. So this means she could possibly have both diseases, right? I think her boyfriend is in extreme denial cause he makes excuses for her behavior. When is he gonna wake up and see she's got problems? Should I say something?

but she orders things she has already ordered before and knows she will not like on purpose. We've been watching to see, and that's what she's been up to. She will purposely order spicey stuff when she dislikes spicy. She orders italian dressing everytime when she doesn't ever like it. I think you are right Rocky W.

People with eating disorders FREQUENTLY exhibit signs of both anorexia and bullimia. It's not only possible, it's likely that she has a combined disorder. Also, just because she has discomfort at eating food doesn't mean she isn't anorexic. While it's possible (not likely, but possible) that she has something more serious like stomach cancer, having distorted views of food and how food tastes/feels/makes you feel is also a common sign of an eating disorder. She is harming her body and dramatically. You can try to help, but someone with an eating disorder rarely gets over the problem unless they're willing to do it themselves. You can either speak with her parents and see if they will admit her into an eating disorder program, voluntarily or involuntarily, or you can let her know that you know she has an eating disorder and you will be there for her. Often times, people develop eating disorders to uncontrol their lives when they feel like everything else is out of control, so encourage her to talk to you about what's going on in her life. And remember, it's not your responsibility to make her better. Just be her friend, and don't put too much pressure on yourself.

When your anorexic after a certain point when you eat it does make you sick to your stomach. Especially if your not eating bland foods, on the odd occasion you do eat. Your friend needs professional help. First talk to her and let her know you are concerned about her and don't want to see her die. If she doesn't take it farther talk to your parents and ask them to go with you and talk to her parents. If that is not possible please go to a counselor at school and tell them your concerns. Your friend needs more help than you can do on your own. This is a disease that kills. If you care about her even a bit try to get some help for her. As far as her boyfriend goes, maybe he just doesn't know what to do. Help them all and get her some help before its too late.

She might not eat because it causes her genuine discomfort. One of the symptoms of a certain type of cancer is severe stomach pain and vomitting. If something hurt me everythime I did it, I wouldn't want to either! Suggest she sees a doctor about her "pain". If it's not really pain, she will not take your advice. Either way you should tell her parents. They can get her some psychological help if she does have an eating disorder.

i think you should talk to your friend and tell her it's not healthy to throw up your food. When people look at me, they say wow your skinny, but they don't that i have a bulging stomach. Weight isn't everything, you can die from these types of diseases. I say your friend should get some professional help
Good Luck

It's Bulimarexia or EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified). You need to get her help as it is just as dangerous as being purely bulimic or anorexic.
See: http://www.something-fishy.org/whatarethey/ednos.php for more details.

It is not possible to have anorexia and bulimia at the same time.
Anorexia is not eating, and bulimia requires food to regurgitate.

you should confront her, and tell her to tell her boyfriend, and if she wont, then you do it... but only after you get ALL the facts!
