I have a 3 year old male cat, it sprays EVERYTHING in my home. If I have him spaded now, will he still spray? Any good ideas on how to get rid of the nasty cat pee smell out of furniture and large stuffed animals?

My Mom just went through this same thing. She told my brother who lives with her either the cat got neutered (males are neutered hun, females are spayed) or he had to go. He is 3 1/2. So I went with him to have it done and Tobey hasn't sprayed since and has become even more affectionate. My Mom actually loves him now. As for the smells and stains, URINE GONE! I have found nothing better on the market for actaully getting rid of the urine rather than just masking it.

Spay: to remove the ovaries and uterus of (a female animal)

Neuter: means altering either male or female

castration: to deprive (or removal) of the testes

As for smell like others have said you can buy many different sprays that can help remove the smell.

you neuter male cats not spay them. At 3 years old neutering may NOT help the spraying. As for the smell, it is very difficult to get out. Contact your vet or pet store for a product that breaks down the protein in the urine to stop the smell.

A male cat would get neutered not spayed and yes it would stop the spraying if you neutered him. Also it would keep him from mating and continuing to add to the overpopulation that makes it necessary for there to be animal shelters. Try natures miracle stain and odor remover you can get it at petsmart.

I neutered my male cat and it still sprayed. I ended up sending him to a farm.
I had my furniture professionally cleaned. It is about all you can really do.
Cats spray if another cat was in the house. They are marking their territory. Male cats are a pain really...good luck.

The cat won't have an ailment, however the canine could are turning out to be into something outdoors that set your cat off. Cats are very mushy to smells. positioned your cat someplace risk-free for all of you and then examine on her the following day. If she remains wild, then get her right into a provider and take her to the vet. maybe she have been given into something rather.

Nature's Miracle will kill cat urine if you use it as directed. You have to pour it and leave it to dry. I have tried everything including vinegar and Nature's Miracle (the cat solution version) works best.

Neutering will stop the spraying.

Why did you wait til now to want to fix him? It may stop him over time. But since he already sprays it is in his behavior now even if he doesn't have hormones encouraging it. Go set up an appointment now to get him fixed. For health reasons alone!
