If all else fails...try a shock collar. If it bites someone, you will be LEGALLY responsible for ALL medical costs, you could lose everything you own, aka, get your butt sued. Is it really worth it? I would have the animal put down if it bites.

How old is the dog? What breed? If it's just a puppy you can "squeal" when they bite you as their littermates would, this communicates that the bite was too hard. You can also say, "NO BITE!" very loudly and firmly. However, if this is an adult dog I suggest you get the help of a professional dog trainer.

When I first got my Rottie puppy he was a very aggressive biter. The vet told me to roll him over onto his back (submissive position for dogs) and hold his mouth closed and say not bite. The first few times the will scurm like crazy. You release from position when they are calm. I could even do this to the dog when he was up to 115 lbs.

If that really doesn't work then get a muzzles and only use it directly after a biting incident. Best of luck!!

OK my dog had THE WORST biting problem EVER!!! She bite my toes and I used to jump away. But she thought it was a game so I just ignored her and she out grew the habit as she got older. We used Bitter Apple spray and hot sauce too! I also recommend Ceaser Milan as a last resort (or if it is that bad!!!) And try saying "NO!" and giving short time outs. GOOD LUCK!!!

Sarah Kate, you're getting uninformative answers here because you haven't provided much information. When is he biting? Is it aggressive? Is he protecting his toys from you, or from other dogs? I can answer your question if you give more info.

Okay - this advice will sound very stupid but please consider using it as it may work. First of all please let me warn you that I would double-check with a professional before doing this because it really does not work with all dogs. Just bite his ear - not hard enough to really hurt him but just so that he gets the message.

Surely there is a doggie dentist that will reduce his biting to being gummed

Yell "OUCH!" when he does it, then put him on a short time out. Tell him Kisses and encourage him to lick rather than bite by putting butter or peanut butter on your hand.
