Huskies are known to be very independent minded and love to run freely when given the chance. However as with every breed there are exceptions. You may have just got lucky and got one that likes to stick close to you. I have two and if you don't watch it when you open the door they will be gone before you know it. We have had to get the car to go chace them down before. Just remember that huskies usually do like to run so she can be prone to it. If she is doing fine about it now I would say it is ok but just keep your eye on her at all times cause you never know if something will catch her eye and she will take off.

I adopted a husky mix and was told to never let loose because Huskies were bred to run sleds so they are used to roaming and running.
Too smart for their own good came about because Huskies are very intelligent but have a mind of their own and will usually only obey a command if they see the point.

I suppose because they are so independent, the warning is just to protect them. However, you know your own dog and whether she will stick close by or not. As the owner of a sighthound, I am well aware of the breeds warned "never to be let of leash"!! My retriever can be let loose, but the hound takes off running, and as the 2nd fastest animal in the world, I'd rather not take the chance of him being hit by a car or me not being able to catch him.
