If the BIG Bang is the most plausible theory on how the universe, time, and all that exists began to exist....What in the world caused the BIG Bang? Surely nothing could not have caused it or could nothing have caused it? Or did there have to be something that caused it, that existed before it, in order for it to happen in the first place?

What caused it was God.
If nothing was there, how could nothing have caused it?
There was nothing there, God created, the Heavens and the earth.

The theory behind the big bang came from the fact that we know a large asteroid slammed into the earth. The resulting clouds of dust particles in the atmosphere blocked out the sun and cause the destruction of most all living things.

If you believe that theory then we'll pray for you.

The Big Bang theory violates the Laws of Thermodynamics so it isn't even plausible by sciences own Laws.

The big bang as you call it was caused by another planet colliding with Terra earth billions of years ago. And has nothing to do with you being here. Humans were colonized here on earth by other life forms.

Peace!
The big bang theory is hogwash. If all the pieces of a watch were placed in a can and the can shaken gently for a million years the watch would not be "accidentally" put together and running.

Good question. I don't believe in the big bang but you have a point

check out M Theory. It is the theory that is replacing String Theory. it proposes that we live in a world with 11 dimensions, parallel universes, and that all matter (instead of coming from vibrating strings like string theory proposes), comes from membranes. Universes are created when these membranes collide or come into contact with one another.

I know this sounds crazy when you read it...but it sounds a lot less crazy than simply saying "God did it", and never trying to learn the answer for yourself. Just look up the theory.

Nobody knows. Probably a god or entity, but we have no way of telling. The laws of space and time were probably different where ever the big bang occurred, so it would be impossible to tell using our technologies.

we don't know what caused it, no one does.

there are possible scenarios out there and being formulated, but nothing concrete as of yet. although, i hear one of the new super-colliders opening this year is going to be preforming some of the first "mini-big bang" tests...

Great question!

So, if nothing existed prior to the big bang, what exploded?
