Well just dont start by saying this is my "boy"friend.... its a bit ironic... Go for the "The man I am with" line....
Nothing more I can really say xcept: Be strong.... take it slow... Prepare them... And prepare him as well...

If you are under 21, living at home, or are dependent on your parents, you can expect them to disapprove.

Be really careful, even if you're over 21. What are his motivations for dating such a younger woman? Rebounding from a divorce? Sugar Daddy? Mid-life crisis?

You may feel you're ready for an older man, but it is seldom that a May-December relationship really works out in the long run. There's simply too much life experience between you two.
Remember how much trouble Prince Charles had with his way-too-young wife Princess Diana... no shared hobbies, no mutual friends, they didn't even like the same music.

OK... telling your parents. Assuming you're over 21 and all is good with you and your boyfriend, let the relationship mature a little before telling them very much about the both of you. When you talk about your boyfriend, don't mention his age, just what you're doing, life, etc. Unless they know him personally, his age is not as important as his character, personality, and if he is good for you.

See if it's working out, then invite them all to something *outside* their house and yours (if you're living away from home). Go to a ball game, play, or out to dinner together. Introduce him as your friend, and they will pick up on your relationship throughout the outing unless they're *really* dense.

Good luck!

First you tell yourself about it, for you don't seem to have realized the huge age difference between you and your older-than-your- Dad boyfriend. It will not work, just think how old your older-than-your-Dad boyfriend will be in 15 years and how old you will be. My advice for what it is worth, is that you should stop this relationship and save your parents from a heart attack.

well older is one thing..... but I certainly hope you are over 18...lol or we have a bigger issue.

Hey....we can't always explain why we fall in love with people... It's very complicated..... so just sit dad down and tell him. he may not like it, he may object but he needs to know.... and since the bf is older than dad, maybe he needs to pay for the wedding if that happens... at least dad will like that part.

If you are under 21 then you are making a serious mistake!
If you are over 21 then be prepared - to always have to tell people that you are the wife not the daughter.
If you are old enough to date him then you should have enough backbone to tell your parents.

The best way is to tell you dad that he is still very young, younger than a lot of other young people.
