Recently, at my college, there were a group of people preaching Christianity. They stopped students and handed them flyers about their the benefits of their religion. As a student, who pays for college, I do not appreciate being attacked for my beliefs on campus. At this point in my life, I am comfortable with my beliefs and don't need any further help deciding where I stand.

They are taught to go forth and spread the gospel. They think they are doing people a favor by saving them from eternal hell fire.

I am a Christain and I think some people like in other religions believe so strongly in what they serve that they want othr people to know about it and have the great experances that they are having. I don't do the whole fliers and up in your face, I mush more am the type of person who likes to be friends with some one and share what I believe when it's practical; but there friendship is more important to me than "making them a Christian".
People get excited about things that change their life; and because it changed their life they want to let others in on the good things happening to them.
Hope this helps.

No one attacked you. If some really wanted to shove their religion in your face or try to convert you they could be way more aggressive. I sympathize with you some. I am a christian, but I don't exactly fit the bill...so I get a lot of Christians who try to come up and talk to me about Christ, still...Not all Christians try to convert others...some just want to live a Christ centered life and keep their eyes locked on him. Can I ask why you had to include "as a student, who pays for college..." in your question? that makes no sense...

In the Christian faith there is what is called the Great Commission. Christians are directed by Jesus to spread the gospel. No where does He command anyone to attack someone else for their beliefs. In fact, quite the opposite. God gave you free will and respects it. It is your choice to accept or refuse the Gospel. If a Christian is attacking you for what you believe or not believe in then they are not acting like a Christian. Just politely refuse their literature (or whatever). You will be showing them what true Christianity is all about. Free will, tolerance and acceptance.

I feel the same way people do that to me all the time tring to convert me to thier religon when i have my own beliefs. They do it because they feel every other religon is wrong and they are always right. Not all christians are like that but alot of them are, and i cant stand the ones who are. People tell me all the time that im going to hell, that i am wrong and im a satian worshiper just because i belive different then they do. I just say whatever i dont believe in hell or the devil you can say what you want but you cant change my religous beliefs. You just have to ignore them, and dont let what they say get to your head.

Okay, those people might not have been Christians. They may have said they were, but if it was Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses those are actually cults that misinterpret the word "Christian".

Christians arent trying to attack others. Sadly, not enough people care enough to explain the Good News of Christ. And the ones that do try to tell you about Jesus care about what will happen to your soul when you die. Hard to believe a stranger cares about u, isnt it, but its true. Plus, it scares the heck out of me to think that anybody would go to an eternal hell. I wouldnt wish that on anyone.

I'll one up you on that - I was at the gym, and had just finished my swimming workout. On my way out of the pool area, right after pulling off my goggles, a guy says "young lady I want to ask you a question" and I'm thinking he is just going to ask me if I was on a swim team or something. Nope! Starts preaching to me, telling me I should watch some videos. I say "I don't want to talk about this right now". He says "I'll just leave the videos at the front, just pick them up on your way out". I was pissed - that's the second time someone has tried to talk Christianity to me at the gym. I just want to do my da.m.n workout and leave!!!

It is what they believe they are destined to do, unfortunately for the rest of us. They also have the freedom to do so as you would have following each one of the people around who are handing out flyers and giving them a flyer on why Christianity is false.

Why didn't you call the police? If someone attacks you, you should call the cops. Don't be a victim - take control of your life!

But... it sounds to me like these kids were exercising their freedom of speech. If you are so comfortable with your beliefs, then why not just ignore them? Did they put a gun to your head?
