You know, politicians aren't the only ones who can delete negative marks on their past records. History can be selective as people don't make note of negative things...they only want the positive remembered.

I would dare to say that most people have black sheep in their family but they tend to be ignored. I know there have been "cover ups" in my family. There is much history about a white fellow who raped a Cherokee woman and the half breed son was several grandfathers away from me but our family didn't want to mention any Native American blood. However, it is obvious in our facial features and skin color when we tan.

In our direct line, we can't find it but the system can be tricked and run the other way that leaves tremendous gaps if the facts are not swallowed. Somewhere there is a rapist in our family line producing illegitimate children. Can't figure exactly where and how but I'm certain it is there. My people like to rewrite history too as the facts can be humiliating.

Not a pile of dirt, but one of my ancestors was thought to be a witch, and was hung. Also, when I asked my dad if he thought we had any relatives that were in the mob (we're Italian) he said "probably".

No, but I traced back 2 generations and discovered that my paternal grandfather was the biggest a##hole and so full of crap it would be better that he was a pile of dirt.

Sure. Not piles of dirt, just military drunks.

Okay, I take that back. One of my grandparents was a pile of dirt.

Yeah!

I'm a descendant of English kings and rogues of the worst kind.

Our geneology is really funny. I inherited the aversion to alcohol from the English kings (bet you didn't know they can't drink, did you), but the other side of my family are Irish drunks, French pirates and assorted criminals of all varieties. Including Richard Nixon!

Not me.

I think that some of my ancestors were pirates, though. Interesting.
