she'll accept money from him and accept gifts but wont allow visitation to any of us. my sister in law cared for the baby for 8 hours and she-babys mom- didnt bother to pick the phone up and call to see how he is .her mom has said that the girl see's him like a brother not a son. i just dont know what to do to help her out. she has not talked to any one she refuses to open up. and i'm deathly scared that she might hurt her self or worse the baby.she has a myspace where she admits to needing help b4 she hurts herself...can anyone help us?????

Well for one he needs to file for FULL custody. He'll have to prove she is unfit as a mother and that the baby is being neglected. He might have to take parenting classes also. It's a little harder for men to get custody of their children becasue courts are more leniant that the child stay with the mother. It's not impossible it's more difficult. Also I dont know about your state but most states girls can consent to sex at 16 so that shouldn't be a problem.Just in case he cant get custody I would recommend that you do.Or at least call social services on her. This could also take years so take it one day at a time and dont get discouraged.

Your a mother yourself right? Well you of all people should understand how hard it is to raise a child. Im not having a go at you but as a young mother myself i can understand the girl's perspective. She had sex and fell pregnant at a very young age to your brother who is 4 years older than her. She may have made one silly mistake and now she has to learn to deal with the consequences. Obviously your brother and her arent together, which just makes having a baby even harder for her. From what you've stated its obvious that she has no support off anyone, you mentioned that she gets a little help off her mum, well that is pathetic! She is probably suffering from post natal depression, which is probably why she doesnt do anything for Jared. When a woman has PND she tends to have very little energy or interest in the baby. She probably loves Jared alot but she's probably just scared and unaware on how to care for such a young child. How do you know that the baby is underdeveloped and not very aware if you's never get visitation? Even if you's dont get to see the baby you should alert the child protection people over there, but dont tell them to take the baby off her unless thats what she wants, instead tell them that she needs help and support off proffessionals... It seems to me that this poor girl is so alone in raising this baby and she is asking for help now because she has realised that she hates feeling this way about her own baby. Your brother should definitly go for visitation with Jared, but once again let me say, that if you take her baby away she will probably just get worse, and it would be a good thing for the baby aswell if you could just help her become a good mother rather than cutting her out of the picture altogether...
Get this child help to raise her child...
Get over the past and support her for the good of your nephew...

You need to call a lawyer! She cannot legally withhold the child from its father. If there is no custody order in place then he needs to get one. No he should not have slept with someone who is under age, but a child resulted from it and he deserves to be in that child's life.

Begin to document when she threatens to harm herself, it will come in handy in court. Keep documentation of all the money that he gives her, and do not give her cash is possible, cash is harder to trace, but checks are very easy to. Many lawyers take payments, as well as do a certain amount of pro bono (free) cases a year. Most lawyers will give a free consultation so you can interview before you pick one.

First of all you need to contact social services. Look it up on google and put your state in there and it should bring up phone numbers. They have 24 hour hotlines and on call social workers around the clock, trust me I know.

Secondly, if he is supporting her AND the baby, was this court ordered? If not, this needs to stop immediately. If they cannot work something out together to allow both of them adaquate time with the baby then it needs to go to court.

He is going to court because he knocked up someone underage. Who is taking him to court? What is this about a plea? I mean if he knocked her up and is trying to get custody of the baby, then duh, he obviously had sex with her. If it was consenting then well, most places look a little different on it than they used to.

As for your brother getting custody, not a good chance of it. Most fathers get screwed in the child custody cases, they have to prove the mother completely unfit in caring for herself. That means they have to catch her with the drug needle in her arm and the children inserting the drugs before most places deem a mother unfit.

Your best bet it to contact the authorities. As for your brother having sex with a 15 year old girl, he should have known better. Do you really think that he is mature enough to handle a baby since he couldn't even handle himself in that situation?

If the baby is being neglected then you need to phone the authorities. Right now your brother's "rights" are irrelevant. Look to the baby and do the right thing! That baby has no voice. If I knew where you were I would report you for not reporting her! REPORT HER!!!
