Why is beer causing a headache ?

Question

For some reason whenever I have a pint of beer, lager, or bitter, I start with a very bad headache. This does not occur when drinking any other alcohol, just beer.

Why is this?

You are sensitive to something in the beer. Just like some people are allergic to certain berries but not allergic to all berries. You happen to be allergic to something in the beer or lager but the ingredient is obviously not in hard liquor.

The other people are right - it's usally a lack of water caused by alcohol, but it's not your brain that is hurting - the human brain does not have nerves to feel pain with. The brain is encased in a watery sack and when this is depleted it pulls away from your skull. Well, your body see's this as a major issue and sets off the pain receptors around the skull to let you know that you've gone too far and need to do something about it. However, it could also be that a person is allergic to the phosphates found in beers and wines. Certain beers and wines have more phosphates than others and will cause a highly negative reaction, i.e. a headache.

the reason for this is due to beer etc containing a higher level of oxidants. this affects it as its been brewed unlike most othr drinks, re fermentation etc hope this help"!

I am told it's because of the chemicals contained in beers

I was going to say because you were not drinking enough of it.

However, the same things happens to me and with all kegs and fizzy drinks.

I drink traditional cider, wine, brandy, tequila, vodka, gin, with none of these problems.
