No, not until I was about 17. Even then they kept an eye on everthing. And I honestly appreciate it.

I was refused to talk to anyone I didn't know. When I was younger, I didn't fully understand why. So, I just did. I didn't go in chat rooms or anything. Just people from AIM. I recently found out after six years, someone wasn't who they said they were. There were only a couple people that are who they say they are and I became friends with them. I never gave out addresses or anything like that. But children will sneak if they feel that the parent is too overprotective without any good reasoning that they mention. I would explain to my child why they shouldn't talk to people they don't know. Not just say "don't do it! It's bad! Period."
I'm now twenty, and my dad still freaks out and asks me if I'm only adding people I know to Myspace. Parents will worry, but they need to explain the dangers of doing whatever.

no way absolutely positively NO, way will my 12 year old daughter talk to anyone on the computer, there is a tv show called dateline, that specializes in catching pedifiles, thats men that pose as children on the internet so that they can prey on you kids when mom and dads not home, i will let her on this site though because i feel it is safe, dont be mad at your parents for not letting you, it is for your own good and safety and dont think that things like that cant happen to you, thats what those kids that were kidnapped and murdered thought, here is a story,,my daughter always asks to walk to the corner store and i will never let her its only 2 blocks from the house, she gets into arguments with me and gets so mad and i hear from her well so and sos parents let her go, about 2 weeks ago, a little girl was picked up walking to the store and was beaten and stabbed to death, i live in a very nice area this has never happened here before, she thought that it wouldnt happen to her either, so you need to be safe and listen to your parents, dont talk to wierdos on the internet

I am a parent who does not allow my kids to talk online with people they don't know. I don't even have to say why----it is obvious.
