On their level, yes.
example: I called you a name and it really hurt your feelings, but you called me one right back and it didn't phase me because that stuff isn't an issue with me.
I'm trying on clothes and the jeans make my thighs look like I'm a fatty, the sales girl glances at my thighs and then looks at my face as if to say "you have got to be kidding! do you even know how fat you are?!" This crushes and embarrasses me as much as the name I called you. The score has been settled on my level and if I'm a good person I will have learned from the experience, if not well you can guess how that goes.
There's an old saying 'treat even the lowly people with kindness because you never know when you're dealing with a depressed millionaire!' know what I mean?

Oh yes, it will always come back to haunt them! There is nothing left undone. If you are rude, mean, steal, hurt others.... you can trust that it may not be now or tomorrow but in due time, it will come back to you!!
