well, some interesting comments above - - but yes, I agree - enough so that I moved here - life is certianly not only more exciting but more fun.. I married a Thai lady but know of many many many men who have found their special lady to be quite different after they know them for a while - especially if you met her in the bar - - though I know many lovely ladies who have found their foreign husbands there too and had it work out just fine - - no value judgment but there is alot of competition in a bar and they can become very very special as in any courtship process.. and they will want to move things along quickly but real personalities unravel slowly... I like the comment above abt nice people being in all cultures - there are good and bad here and the ways of thinking and doing things can be quite different from western thought - often contradictory, frequently stubborn - but generally funny and the smile melts us all - take your time - keep your eyes open and enjoy!! best

Thailand is wonderful, but the nicest people on the planet are disbursed throughout the world.
Thai Buddhism does value kindness and people can be quite lovely there, but I've run into some rude, obnoxious people as well.
Laos is also worth visiting as is Cambodia. You should go back to Thailand, but don't think they have a monopoly on niceness.

I did. I retired there. Gratuitous advice on my part is to be very, very careful about making romantic commitments to special Thai ladies. Like any other country on the planet there are both very nice people and others. There are many sad tales about romantic attachments, which you at least be aware of and alert to.

I have also met someone special over there. After hearing so many bad stories about Thai ladies, I'm taking it RREEAALL SSLLOOWW.
Take the time to learn the language, and the culture!

I love it so much I moved there. Been visiting in US for a few weeks and am extatic as I am returning on Sunday. Can't wait to be home. So much to do yet, very peaceful and quiet. Just walking around is aq great experience. So much to se and do or you can do nothing and be happy. Have a good trip.,

Not saying this is true of you and your 'special lady' but I know a bloke who went over there, met someone, got married, and she fleeced him financially. Beware you may just represent money.

yes they are and it is a magical place,im moving there end of 2007 ,but yes be careful correspond with her even revisit,but dont be hasty we all did that first time there,good luck

you can always pretend that you broke, go to see her with no money, and keep pretending for 3-6 months.
let see if she is still doing nice to you as before.
