The question simply asked what your favorite Bible verse was and the question got a lot of thumbs down. What can be wrong with this question? A LOT OF HATE MONGERS! You know who you are.

I looked at that question, and the person used SusanJ's avatar of her grandson, wrote "whore" across the pic and is using it as his own. That is despicable and that is why he got a thumbs down. NOT because of the question.

I'm truly sorry the question, (which I didn't see), was responded to so badly. But that's the "knocks" we all get simply when someone doesn't agree with us. TexasChic is totally confused; this has nothing to do with "liberals" ) another invitation for nasty responses. SOME non-Christians definitely do come down hard on Christians, & I've made my opinions about this quite clear, even though I'm not Christian. Conversely, I've been told I'm a sinner & going to hell, so there you are. You're absolutely right about hate mongers. Both sides of the aisle, religion, politics, whatever. It's mean spirited & presumptuous to criticise anyone's belief or disbelief. As to "ravenous wolves" --THEY are certainly out here, & some would eat me alive in a heart beat, but please remember not EVERYONE is like this! I've found the best I can do is ignore the pettiness of people who feel compelled to be cruel. Yes, I'm sure they know who they are. At times I want to apologize for the human race, but there are some beautiful, non-biased people here as well! The rest aren't worthy of your time.

My dear friend, have you not read the very Bible you are questioning us about? No...do not take me the wrong was as I am not attacking you. I merely mean to point out that Christ himself told us numerous times that they will hate you but they hated me first.
John 15:18
[ The World Hates the Disciples ] "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.

Matt 5
11"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Oh and my favorite Bible passage is 1 Corinthians 6 9-11. Aside from Jesus' example of prayer I have always been fond of is Psalm 139:23-24 (King James Version).

This is a very hard question.
Choosing which of God's inspired word is my favorite.
Phil. 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
James 4:8 Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.
1 Cor. 13:10 ... When that which is perfect is come that which was in part shall be done away... ( Christ=Perfect)
Matt. 28:20 ...and Lo I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
Matt. 24:35 ...My words shall not pass away...
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever.
Yes, I could go on and on but I will leave with this one just about everyon knows...
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
and...John 8:32 And ye shall know the TRUTH and the Truth shall set you free.
Romans 10:17 So then Faith cometh by hearing , and hearing by the WORD OF GOD.

The non-religious are not the only hate-mongers out there. Even though Christianity is supposed to be a religion of love, many of its followers have a very hateful attitude towards non-Christians. And don't get me started on radical Muslims.

I am wiccan and do not study the bible, but I have to agree with you. That was a reasonable question. Some people just want attention I guess.

Well you answered your own question....they are hate mongers. Lamentations 3 : 22 and 23....this verse set me free...I use to feel like I would claw my way to the top of the mountain....then do something really stupid and fall back to the bottom....up...down...up...down ....at times I would just feel sooooo weary....as though I was just too tired to try to climb back up...wanting to just stay in a pile....crumpled....I just didn't feel as though I was ever going to measure up....This verse gave me revation that God has mercy for us every day...every morning....because He knows that we are going to mess up "every day"....It helped me to see that just because I messed up I didn't need to slide all the way to the bottom...but just to catch myself quick and turn from what I was doing...and that his mercy is extended to each of us daily...It was so freeing for me....

I guess you already have your answer!

What has light to do with darkness???
Workers of iniquity hate the light because of it exposes them, (hence the thumb downs my friend! :)

If the world hated Jesus , how much more will they hate you???

a thumb down isno biggie. At least you are not being physically persecuted! God bless!

I agree with Elizabeth C (on 2 levels). I am a witch (not Wiccan) and would never criticize anyone on such a question. Negativity is uncalled for. I agree that it is a pretty simple, innocent question. Not much different than when someone asked us what our favourite Sabbat was!
