We evolved in an environment where food was often scarce, and starvation was a far greater threat than obesity. It was more adaptive to eat higher calorie food so you'd have more energy stores during times of famine. Also, sweeter fruits were less likely to contain toxins that would make you sick as compared to bitterer (and less ripe) fruits. Foods high in fat and sugar were typically hard to find, so there weren't problems with clogged arteries like there are today, and the extra calories provided a survival advantage.

In modern developed nations, where higher fat and sugar foods are readily available in unlimited quantity, and starvation is not an issue, it's better to eat lower calorie foods and avoid excess fat and sugar. However, that hasn't been the case for long enough to produce evolutionary change. What's more, the effects of an unhealthy diet rarely occur early enough in life to prevent reproduction, so it's unlikely that there will ever be selection favoring an affinity for a diet better suited to a modern lifestyle.

There's no such thing as wrong and correct types of food. Only the mostly and sometimes. The sometimes food are hard to keep a minimal because they're so TASTY! You have to listen to your body and not your tongue. It's saying YES YES do it now it's gonna be tasty! Then when you've finished you end up feeling sick from eating over load.

I think this is a misconception. You can make fast food that's tasty and good for you. Stir-fry for example (take a wok to the kitchen instead of a walk to burger king!) Try peppers, red onion, courgette, tomato roasted in the oven for thirty minutes with garlic herbs and olive oil- mixed with couscous -it's tasty and nutritious. If your adventurous, why not (raw!) fresh tuna marinated in lemon juice and ginger, sliced thin and served on sushi rice? Honey is an excellent substitute for sugar and greek youghurt is as creamy as the real thing. Mix them together with fresh fruit like strawbs, rasps or banana, sprinkle with chopped pistachios and you've got a rare sweet treat!
High cocoa solids chocolate (French not the cheap Belgian stuff) is good for you in small qtys (50g/day) and along with good red wine (half bot max/day) provides your body with chemicals which not only promote 'feelgood' but also help to ward off cancer
If you know it's doing you good, you'll feel good and hopefully you'll wean your palate away from the burger and chips culture!

Wow, question of the year! lol I always wonder that, I'm like a 43 year old kid! I love all the stuff that's bad, pretty much, like chili, chocolate cake, mountain dew, coffee with lots of sugar. For awhile there I tried to eat stuff like bananas and other fruit and vegies, but it wasn't easy.

Perhaps one reason is that it's tough to keep stuff that's good for you fresh. You gotta keep going back to the store to get fresh stuff. You can get junk food out of a machine, and at fast food restaurants all over the place!

Because they make all the bad foods cheaper than the healthy foods, so people don't want to spend the money to eat healthier.
Vending machines are full of bad food and when you are hungry at work, you just go to the vending machine. It's a conspiracy! lol

junk food tastes so good. come on.. once u pop, u just cant stop. and besides some people are of the theory that we are genetically programmed to crave foods with salt or provisional of high energy. cause way way back in the day, these foods were important for storage and survival and whatnot, in those harsh times to come.

Life is too short to eat health food. Indulge yourself, a good looking corpse is still a corpse that missed out on a lot of ice cream.

Because believe it or not, most of the wrong foods are addictive, filled with fillers, like refined sugar and preservatives, and other junk. Hope that helps.
