Vinegar is supposed to help get rid of dandruff but it doesn't actually work. You can try it if you want, but make sure you don't do it too often (say once a week) and don't have any open sores on your scalp (very painful if you do).

The idea of it is to remove any soap residue by neutralising the alkaline ph of soap (soap is alkaline and vinegar is acid). It is supposed to make your hair really shiny. What you do is mix a small amount of vinegar, perhaps 1/4 of a cup into a basin of water and rinse, and it is supposed to be done after every shampoo.

But I should warn you that every time I have tried this it made my hair extremely tangly and dry, as if I had never used conditioner, and I don't recommend it.

I think that the most important thing to make your hair shiny (apart from laying off the heated appliances and styling products) is to make sure you rinse very, very thoroughly after your conditioner.

Vinegar mixed with water ---will get soap residue out of your hair.

BUT you can only use it once in a while 'cos it will strip your oils out, too.
Be sure to conditon afterwards.

It's really good for your hair, but don't do it too often.
